Hey, @HiltonHotels I’m staying/stayed at your properties in Leicester/London for a combined 16 nights, and you a) can’t find the past reservations (despite one being attached to my account) and b) won’t credit any Hilton Honors stays/points? What is this ridiculousness?

To be clear, the NC Is better than the Bose and the audio is better than my Sennheisser.

The "palm the ear" to allow in outside audio is a great gesture. So damn comfy too! And the build quality is ridiculous. The ONLY things I dislike: the touch controls aren't easy to use, and they can only connect to one device — two is a must for me. Still might steal them…

OK, I grabbed a pair of Sony WX1000-M3 headphones for my wife yesterday as I've been promising her some NC headphones for a while. I had planned on the Bose QC35ii but she wanted these — let me tell you these are fabulous. Better NC and audio than my Sennheisser PXC550s for sure.

p.s. if you can, it's always a good time to call your mum. Tell her you love her. I did yesterday, and she said it back. Our last words were the right ones, and the only ones that matter.

My mum taught me so much about being a good person, about loving people no matter what. She didn't teach me tolerance, but instead she taught me about acceptance without limits. She taught me about justice, and standing up for others. I love you Mum, thank you.

I will miss my mum terribly, I am sure the reflex to call will be there for a long time. I am sad she won't see my son grow up, but I know she adored him. She told me recently that she was most proud of having raised two kids whose only social intolerance was against intolerance

I was always glad she hadn't called me Robin. Then, several years ago on a car ride I realized Robin… Batman. Suddenly the name was cooler. And I asked her about it and she told me that, no, it was meant to be after an ice skater in the 70s. She loved watching ice dancing.

She was a huge DC comics fan, she was an OG nerd, and could tell you the 7 different kinds of Kryptonite and how they affected Superman. I found her collection in the attic when I was a kid, assumed they were my dads. I was wrong. I also ruined a lot of them, sorry mum.

Some more short stories about my mum: She was planning to call me Robin, but said that I was too plain, so I ended up with David. She also said I looked like E.T. when I was born. Coincidentally, my sister was terrified of E.T. as a child (just put those two things together!)

We were supposed to go for Christmas, but it was always unclear if she would make it that far. It was her favorite time of year. She was Jewish. But that sort of sums up the complexity of my mum perfectly.

She was the best cook, except for Grandma. She was wicked smart, holding a Masters in Mathmatics, and taught some college-level courses. She learned how to program Basic, despite claiming to not understand my work at all, indeed claiming she didn't know how to turn on a computer.

And I finally understood her better too. It was a much more pivotal moment in her life than it seemed at the time. I asked her once how she had coped with it and the kids… and she just said "well, I had to for you kids". No hesitation. She was the best Mum.

(Incidentally, the website Miss England 2001 was my first real job) When I lost my first wife in 2006, I joined that widowhood club with mum, and it brought us so much closer. She understood it all.
