    Some times it's even personal! I've had people write off Basecamp because something I said a decade ago that I might well not even believe any more. (And of course, I'm turning people off on a daily basis by things that I do say today too 😄😬😂)

    Perhaps the greatest intellectual discovery I've made in the past five years was that I was "allowed" to read original works. Whether Stoics, like Aurelius, Seneca, Epitectus, or existentialists, like Kierkegaard. Or Adam Smith. I found original works approachable and delightful.

    I've spoken about why we've rewritten Basecamp from scratch twice, but that's really it. Being able to both stay in business for the long term yet also bring our best, freshest ideas to market. Often, it's seen as a dichotomy: it's one or the other.

    One of the great things about being in business for 15+ years with has been hearing from people who tried the product a years or a decade ago, didn't like it or it didn't stick, who then gave us another shot and was shocked by how it finally clicked and they loved it ❤️

    I use the web for email, Twitter, Basecamp, news all day at a desktop computer. I curse businesses that only have apps. The web has never been better and the costs of our walled app gardens have never been clearer or higher. Think most apps will work in 20 years? The web will.

    I used to use a browser to read news. Now I use apps. I used a browser to view video now I use apps. I used a browser to book flights and check in. Now I use apps. Trying to figure out what I will use browsing for in the future.
