A group of Holocaust survivors send a message to Putin from their Kyiv bomb shelter: "Get out of Ukraine!" Heartbreaking and inspiring in equal measure.

And what is remarkable, truly mind-blowing in the long sweep of history, is that his Jewishness has not stood in the way of his being embraced as a symbol of the nation.

Rather than still insisting Hershel Fink was not a Jewish character, better to accept that the name "Hershel Fink" means the character was 'Jewish' in an antisemitic sense, even if he wasn't Jewish in a normal sense. Then ask yourself what you can learn from that.

The apology from is welcome but their report reminds me of the Chakrabarti Report: lots of attention to process to resolve a 'mistake', without real examination of the culture or thinking that led to the mistake in the first place

We condemn this senseless aggression that flies in the face of justice and decency. We continue to both be inspired by the resolve of the Ukrainian people, and to pray for peace. Please support and in their aid efforts.

Ukraine is now the frontline of liberal democracy against authoritarianism. It is fighting for its life, and for the preservation of the European idea. Where does the Left stand in this fight? It's time for it to draw a similar border of its own.

As ever there is a Jewish element to this. What is bad for Jews is rarely good for wider society. Like many British Jews I trace part of my family to Ukraine, a land of Jewish culture and Jewish tragedy. A Jewish Ukrainian President leading this fight is a symbol of hope.

A truly internationalist Left with a moral compass has no place for this politics. The Labour Party now understands how toxic and corrosive it can be. There are trade unions and universities that need a similar process of self-examination.

All those Labour MPs who nominated Corbyn for leader in 2015 to 'broaden the debate'? This is what you were inviting in, and it nearly destroyed your party.

And now Russia. People who spent years ignoring, denying or equivocating over Soviet crimes now do the same for Putin, whether it is individual murders on British streets or mass murder in Syria and Ukraine.

The "We are all Hizbollah" crowd. The part that thinks Hamas is a progressive left wing movement fighting for social justice. The ones who take swastika placards to protests against the world's only Jewish state, and all the others who stand by and say nothing.

You know, the part of the left that said America brought 9/11 on themselves. That published Osama bin Laden on the opinion pages of the Guardian. That made excuses for the Taliban.
