  12. I'll dig up a video showing something cool and send it over. Basically it shows how often a Maya mom and her kid touch an object at the same time v. American mom and kid. The difference is huge. They work togeteher as one creature.

I agree with this 100% but how does this play out in homes where many “chores” are outsourced and work that parents try to do is on the computer? Eg I can allow my 2yo to feed the dog but not write a blogpost. Get Your Kids To Do Chores

  15. Welcome to my home! Yes, it's more difficult. The more I search the more "chores" I find: cooking, folding laundry, taking the trash out, changing light bulbs, sweeping, vacuuming, rinsing dishes. I've stopped playing w/ the kid inthe morning &just started cleaning.. she loves it

I believe it. I’m so thrilled about this series. The uniqueness of our “keep mom in a box” hit me like a ton of bricks when I was a stay at home mom for a couple of years. I became fascinated with the anthropology of child rearing, but it’s never been a priority to research it.

So much truth in this article but how about some concrete advice for boxed in or stressed moms? (I think many if not most moms in the US have a good handle already on using collaborative not controlling methods) Secrets Of A Maya Supermom

  18. We will do a follow up with concrete advice! I have to say I thought i was a "collaborative mom" until I watched the maya momming. It is on different planet. It is minimal interference... doing as little as possible.
