My first experience of Parliament

By 44 year old mum
I came to the conclusion that if we lowered the standard in school and only expected our kids to behave to the level of maturity of our MPs then school would be a heck of a lot easier for our special kids. In the mere hour I was there multiple MPs left the chambers for short times ….. we expect 6 year olds to go to the toilet in break times so surely the people discussing issues that impact real lives could do likewise!

Soooooooo about China trying to, you know, buy 2 MPs

At some point we are going to move on from JLR being an arsehole to women and you know, ask questions about the Chinese Government buying 2 MPs right? Like that’s coming up eh? Like that’s a direct threat to our fucking sovereignty eh, we aren’t this easily distracted right?

A Quick Update

By Chris Trotter
REDACTED: Well, as REDACTED predicted, SB’s refusal to grant JLR everything he asked for back in February sent him into a black fury and made him extremely receptive to the idea of getting his own back. It really was very clever of you, REDACTED, to identify JLR’s acute sensitivity to even the slightest of slights. I’ve seldom encountered anyone more willing to allow their passion to over-rule their reason.

One Indian Worth More Than Bridges’ & Ross’ Brainpower Combined

By Curwen Rolinson
Now while, to be sure, it is possible that this may have been meant as a direct comment on how National’s two Indian MPs are seen within the party as individuals … I think given the surrounding context of the conversation that it is quite clear the National Party does not see the Indian communities within New Zealand in a particularly positive light.

Canada legalizes cannabis – where is New Zealand?

I swear brothers and sisters, on the day prohibition is finally crushed and the cops and the spineless politicians defeated, we should gather around every major police station and spark up the minute after its legalised in memory of the hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders these politicians and cops have damaged and burnt and broken because of their bullshit cannabis laws.

No Country For Dishonourable Men

By Chris Trotter
NICKY HAGER’S latest revelations concerning the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) could not be more timely. In the year of #MeToo, he has exposed a culture of toxic masculinity extending from the top to the bottom of New Zealand’s armed forces.

WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING inside the National Party Caucus? Are we witnessing a genuine intra-party meltdown or merely the political and personal disintegration of a single individual? When all the dust has settled, will very much have changed?
Read More →Post-TPPA, we have to make the changes happen
Our unprecedented protests against the TPPA, from small rural towns to the main cities, moved the political ground on secretly negotiated international treaties that entrench corporate rights, handcuff elected governments and disempower peoples. Politicians were shaken. The Holy Grail of free trade agreements was now a political liability.

I bet Simon Bridges wishes he had been born a Smith, Jones or almost anything rather than bridges. After Winston’s little musical stunt “Burning Bridges”, and extremely punny headlines in the Press two days running, he will be sick of his own name.

The Jami-Lee Ross strategy and endgame: Possible impacts for the 2020 election
What we are witnessing is a political hit job of bewildering savagery and maliciousness. I understand the moment Simon Bridges won the leadership, dented egos started plotting.

Jami-Lee Ross wasn’t lying was he – those tapes are pretty damaging and news today that Lusk is advising him is as much evidence as we’re going to get that this is dirty politics and an attempted coup to remove Bridges – the question is who is the puppet master?

This is getting dirtier and nastier but this time around the sleepy hobbits of muddle Nu Zilind don’t have the laid back anti-intellectualism of John Key to absolve their conscience and ignore corruption, they have bumbling Simon Bridges. Key could look down the barrel of the camera and lie to our faces and the sleepy hobbits loved him for it, Simon can’t lie convincingly and they will turn on him.
National Party voters love a good liar, they detest a weak one.

As China regresses into a censorship totalitarian state, we need to ask how much influence our largest Political Party is under from Beijing and in whose interest does National rule? New Zealand’s or the People’s Republic of China?

Capitalism is on its last legs and can only survive by making us, the vast majority of working people the world over, pay for it by giving up our livelihoods and our lives.
