Hello! I’m Jodi! I'm so glad you've come and decided to look around!
My husband Tim and I live in a big old house in country NSW, Australia with our three kids and our neighbour’s dog.
I started blogging and making kids’ clothing to sell at local craft markets back in 2011 under the name Tickle & Hide. It was a wonderful, fun way to connect with local makers, get to the know the online crafty community and buy lots of fabric. But the more I sewed, and read, and created, the kids clothes just kept being left half finished for the new quilt ideas I had building up and overflowing.
We moved our family to the country and left our old jobs and suburban life behind at the beginning of 2015 to be closer to family and friends. The move proved the perfect chance to change my name and my focus, from a local kids label to and online quilt blogger (actually, most of the ‘blogging’ happens over on Instagram these days!). And I’ve never looked back!
At the end of 2015, Tim finished up his Masters of Engineering, a degree that was really only going to help him be an academic in the big city. We spent a lot of time coming up with all kinds of hair-brained ideas to use his techy, mathematical skills in a small country town. And then finally, one day, came the lightbulb moment - laser cut paper pieces.
And so with his brains and my creative flare combined, we’ve developed Tales of Cloth Paper Pieces. He built a laser cutter, and I’ve been madly stitching late into the night. Our goal is to help people make unique and beautiful hand-pieced quilts, connecting different shapes together to discover new tiling patterns or reimagine old ones.
We’ve sourced environmentally friendly products and packaging wherever possible. Our pieces are cut from 100% post-consumer recycled card. And we’ve gone for recycled paper envelopes rather than plastic sleeves to hold them.
There are lots of ways to follow me on this creative journey! Be sure to pick your favourite (or two!) I can’t to show you all the things we have in store!
