Helsinki OBVIOUSLY has better form BUT back then they emphasized technique more than speed. Simone uses more energy to get dressed.

Oddly enough , Helsinki leave something to be desired. The feet are not as stretched as you would expect where dance technique holds more emphasis. Split wasn't square. BHS not dynamic. Modern sprung floors help a lot.

The 1952 one looks more like today's level 4 skills.

A gap of 64 years, difference in style is obvious. Speed & acrobatics are more in vogue now.

Hilarious a level 4 could have won floor in Helsinki 52. But can you imagine how revolutionary that routine was on that day. Scary to think of the sport in another 65 years!

Amazing to see how the sport has evolved since ‘52! Basically, a current USAG level 3 floor routine would be considered Olympic-worthy 64 years ago. Nowadays, double flips in the tumbling passs are the norm. 🤸🏻‍♀️🥇

Much of the evolution is due to drastic improvements in equipment and allowing women to workout.
