Shows you know little about the bulk (!) of the Russian-Israeli community. Most olim don't really like Putin but do respect him, even fear him. And that's exactly why Bibi is popular among them: he managed to make Putin treat him as an equal. That's what we see in the picture.

Well, I happen to be married to the "Russian-Israeli community", I also happen to have been in physics school where 80% of the students were olim. I have a BA in Russian history. I get the appeal, I just wish they were appaled, instead. Thanks for the mansplanation, Misha.

ridiculous campaign, if Netanyahu intends to draw Russian speaking base of Liberman. Only a small fraction, probably 2-3 mandates adore and respect Putin. Of the first generation of Olim, half vote. Out of them, Liberman base won't even move to Netanyahu.https://www.davar1.co.il/181236/

The Olim Themselves are only part of the Russian speaking community. Those who came to Israel as children , like my sister, hate Putin. The second generation and so on, hate him as well. Those who watch channel 9 and Russian channel 1, are a small portion.

It's true though, that many perceive "power" as more important than policy and accomplishments. Not only Russians of course. But I do hear many say they know Bibi works with religious parties against their own interest, and still prefer him to other, inexperienced candidates.

You're definitely right about 2nd and 3rd generation. you can't politically file all of them under "Russians".

Russian speaking, is the correct term. And speaking about only the Olim, the children who came here definitely don't respect Putin. As said in the article, which is accurate enough, 60 percent of all generations vote for right wing, 40 percent for center left.
