May 29
It was the Return of the Living Corpse Flower in 3D!That's right, it happened again! Ben Snyder, Manager of the Tyler School of Art and Architecture Greenhouse Education and Research Complex, completed a horticultural hat trick! Two corpse flower blooms in 2021 (Big Stinker and Little Stinker — named by one of our guests who won the naming contest); one big Diva in 2023, named because she took her sweet time getting and now a new bloom in 2024!The new bloom, however, was a returning favorite. Big Stinker came back, grew from 28.25 inches tall to 53.5 inches tall and fully...

Moving a ball from one peg built to keep it about a foot off the ground to its twin sitting across a field or classroom.Sounds pretty simple, right? Then add in a metal ring to balance the ball on, several pieces of string to lift it up and about eight or 10 students, faculty members or staff all with their own strategies and plans to get from Point A to Point B. Then you have a challenge, one of several teambuilding, communication and problem-solving exercises offered by Recreation, Outdoor Education...

The benefits from outdoor play for mind, body and spirit are well-documented and create a lasting connection to nature and wildlife that help promote happiness and good health.Unfortunately, as the hustle and bustle of everyday life seems to become more and more hectic, connecting with nature and the outdoors is often left out of the equation. Temple Ambler Library: a future of innovation

by James F. Duffy
January 13
The Temple University Ambler Library Building didn't escape the wrath of the EF2 tornado that ravaged campus on September 1, 2021. Ferocious winds and debris tore holes in the building's roof and blew out most of the large windows, threatening the collection of 130,000 books, periodicals, research material and historical archives inside."Our first concern was the care of the materials. That was paramount in our thinking — how to save what we had because we knew there was major damage to a number of books," said Sandi Thompson, Head of the Ambler Campus Library. "We...
