Sunday Snippets - it's party time!

Hi Playmates!

There's a new challenge to play along with over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND hosted by Miss Di for the next fortnight, where, once again, there will be FOUR lucky prize winners picked out at random at the end of it. Results will be posted on 12th January 2025.

I made a festive gift wallet for my homework and put a voucher inside, but it also fits a bar of chocolate (just saying!).

Gift wallet (fits chocolate bar!)

My snippets

This is the template I made and used for the gift wallet - just in case anyone needs one!

Snippets Playground Round up!

The Playground Christmas party is being held in the school hall on Christmas Eve. Thanks to all the playmates who have been taking it in turns to make long paper chains and blow up balloons to decorate the hall.

Di and I have been busy putting out tables and chairs and making sure there are plenty of twinkling lights about the place - plus we dragged in a huge Christmas tree and decorated it. The dinner ladies have been busy making party food and drink - including a massive bowl of punch (which I might just have to "spice up" a little)! Dudley is going to be DJ for the night and Di says she'll be leading a Conga at some point! All are welcome to enjoy the festivities, so let's eat, drink and be merry!

As this is likely to be my last post before Christmas, I wish all my blog readers, old and new, a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Purple Pal

Hi there!

Over at ALLSORTS, there's a nice easy theme to kick off the new fortnightly challenges. Sarah wants to see us using our dies (or there's always the Anything Goes option). There are some new DT members to visit and there's a brand new blog header to see! All change!

I was happy to comply with the theme, so I used up a piece from a masterboard I recently made, then added two die cuts to complete the card.

Card measures: 4.75" x 4.75"

The only snippets I remembered to take a picture of!

Materials:

  • Masterboard snippet. I made the masterboard by scribbling a white Crayola wax crayon all over some white card, then added various Distress Inks over the top using a craft brush. The white crayon areas resist the inks leaving a nice effect. The original sheet of card was A4 but I've used up lots of it.

  • As this portion of the masterboard was purple, I used a purple mount (larger snippet) and die cut some smaller snippets of the same cardstock for the word "friend" (from Heffy Doodle - no longer in business) and the little bird on a branch (from The Works - discontinued).

It's Winter Solstice today - happy Midwinter everyone - longer days and shorter nights are on their way!

Mainly white card for Allsorts 811

Thought I'd have a go at creating a mainly white card so I can join in with the current Allsorts 811 Challenge theme. I happened to have a few die-cut snippets laying around on my desk . . . so I used two of them to make the card below:

The card measures 4¾ square

Details:

  • Heffy Doodle Circle Frame die used on a white snippet.
  • Leane Creatief Daisy die - cut from a collage I made from tiny bits of torn paper.
  • Papermania clear self-adhesive gem in the flower centre.
I am tempted to leave it as it is, rather than add a sentiment at a later date!

Sunday Snippets - What's in Sarn's Satchel this week?

Sarn's Snippets Playground  Homework:

C6 sized card

Details:

  • Snippets = everything added to the card front.
  • White snippet used to die cut the Pink & Main leaves (Leafy Dies 1, PNM462)
  • SU Island Indigo snippet for the mat and also to punch the "vase" from. The punch is really a Christmas bauble, but I chopped off the bottom of the bauble to create a vase instead! White Signo gel pen used for vase highlight.
  • Stamperia Stencil KSTD127 used on a white snippet. I then brushed over the whole snippet with Pool Party ink after stencilling. This was then cut with a Heffy Doodle Stitched Rectangle die.

While I had the Pink & Main leafy dies on my desk, I made this little ATC:

2.5" x 3.5" ATC - entirely from snippets

ATC details:

The main (blue) panel was left over from a recent inky masterboard made with white wax crayon scribbles and Dylusion spray inks! The leaf sprig has had the middle leaf cut off to fit the ATC better. The words are from an Aall & Create set which were stamped, cut out and glued on.

SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND ROUND UP:

Hi Playmates!

In my satchel this week, I have a few more bottles of Mulled Wine and some extra oranges and cinnamon sticks to add to the mix.

Di has published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire her top picks and discover who won the prize. There's still nearly a week left to play in the current challenge if you haven't already done so. Remember - there are FOUR mystery festive prizes on offer for the current challenge - or you can just play for fun.

Sunday Snippets - Tag You're It!

Hi Playmates!

In my satchel this week, I have some cheese and biscuits to go with the mulled wine that's helping to keep us warm and happy up in the treehouse!

For my homework, I made various Christmas tags from snippets of card and paper, and I'm sharing a couple of my favourites with you today.

Both tags were made entirely from snippets of white card and torn bits of patterned paper - with a little stencilling, stamping and die-cut snowflakes to decorate.

Paper Snippets

So, why not take a look at your snippets pile, pull a few bits out and see what you can make? Then come over to play in the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND. At the end of Challenge #495 there will be FOUR lucky prize winners drawn at random and the results will be posted on 29th December.

Gin Up!

Hi there!

Today I have a one layer card (OLC) for you.

I made this CAS card in super quick time as it only involved four stamps (the bottle and 3 parts to the sentiment), but I really like it's simplicity!

Details:

  • Gin bottle image and "Let the Drinking be Gin" sentiment from the Visible Image "Keep Your Gin Up" stamp set
  • "Time to Celebrate" part of the sentiment is from an old magazine cover gift.
  • All stamped in Versafine Clair "Twilight" ink
I would like to enter this card into the current Allsorts Challenge (Week 810) where they want to see entries on the theme of "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas". There are some fabulous stamp sets available if you win. My card isn't very festive, although if you celebrate Christmas with a glass or two of Gin . . . maybe it IS festive! Regardless, I'm entering under the anything goes option!

Sunday Snippets - What's in Sarn's Satchel?

Hi Playmates!

In my satchel today, I have a masculine birthday card to share with you. I've also got more of those dark chocolate Digestives that went down so well last week!

Card measures: 4.75" x 4.75"

Snippets

Materials:

  • I cut an A4 piece of dark brown card to measure 9.5" x 4.75" and scored it in the middle to create a 4.75" square card.
  • I cut a brown gelli print to measure 4" x 4" (leaving me snippets to play with another day!) and double mounted it onto Kraft card and then onto a cream coloured card, each mount measuring a quarter inch more all the way around than the last.
  • The Lawn Fawn "Bold Happy Birthday" sentiment was cut from a snippet of cream card and glued on top of the gelli print.

I have published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire the top picks and discover which lucky playmate won the prize.

Sunday Snippets - What's in Sarn's Satchel this week?

Hi Playmates!

There's a new challenge to play along with over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND hosted by Miss Di for the next fortnight.

Here's my homework:

Landscape C6 card (opening on the right hand side)

Card and matching envelope.

MATERIALS:

  • Snippet of pink patterned paper (which was part of a magazine gift) glued to a white card snippet for sturdiness, then die cut with Heffy Doodle Stitched Rectangle dies. I used a further snippet of the same paper to decorate the envelope.
  • Heffy Doodle "Friend" sentiment die, cut from a white snippet.
  • Ancient Marianne flourish die cut from a white snippet.
  • Three little flowers punched out of a white snippet with a discontinued SU flower punch.
  • Julie Hickey Glossies for flower centres, plus a few more added just because!

In my satchel, along with my homework, I've got a tub of Bournville drinking chocolate for making hot chocolate up in the treehouse, plus some chocolate Digestive biscuits in both milk and dark chocolate varieties! Take your pick - personally I love the dark chocolate biccies! Oh, and don't tell Miss Di, but I've been smuggling in some hooch and stashing it around the treehouse ready for the Christmas Party! Wink, wink!

Sunday Snippets - Dream Big!

Hi there!

Di has published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire her top picks and discover who won the prize. There's still nearly a week left to play in the current challenge if you haven't already done so.

For my homework I've made a small card measuring just 2.5" x 4.25" - cut and folded from a leftover snippet of white card. The envelope was custom made to fit.

A small card measuring just 2.5" x 4.25"

Materials:

  • The whole card is made from snippets.
  • Two gelli print snippets were torn off at an angle, and one piece was glued on top of the other.
  • A snippet of black card was used to die cut a leafy sprig from the Sizzix Hidden Leaves set.
  • The Dream Big sentiment was added (probably from a Clearly Besotted set but I could be mistaken as I don't store my stamps in their packaging!)

Have a lovely day and remember to dream big! xxx

Gelli Print Dabbers Galore!

On this post I mentioned that I use dry embossed packaging snippets to dab into wet paint/ink that has been added to my gelli plate. They give interesting results by lifting the ink or paint, and then sometimes depositing it back down again in a different area. My friend Lesley G wondered if I would show the packaging.

Wonder no more Lesley . . . and in case anyone else is also wondering what my "dabbers" look like . . . see below:

Showing the packaging side

Same dabbers as above - but showing the USED side!

I store them in an Ikea freezer bag - other brands are available! LOL!

It's a two-handed job - I hold one end of the dabber and press it down randomly on the gelli plate ink/paint with my other hand.

The beauty of using packaging is that: a) it's free, b) it's sturdy and c) once it's finished with, it can be recycled. Oh happy days - free craft products that work brilliantly and can then be put in your recycling bin.

They last quite a while, but eventually, the dry embossing goes a bit flat as it gets pushed down and then clogged up with paint! But, joy of joys, just go grab another piece of packaging, dry emboss it, and your ready to go again!

You can of course use up some of your sturdier snippets - I would say no less than 300gsm cardstock.

Alternatively, you could gently dab your plastic embossing folders directly onto the gelli plate ink/paint, but then you have to CLEAN them up. Nah . . . just use the packaging and save yourself the bother!

Happy gelli plate printing my friends. I hope you have a lot of fun with this easy technique. I must credit Teresa Auden for showing the use of embossed card for gelli printing, even though I do something a little different to her with it.

Sunday Snippets - Whimsical Fairies!

Hi there Playmates!

Bonfire night in the Snippets Playground went well and everyone had a good time keeping warm by the bonfire, eating jacket potatoes and slurping from mugs of soup.

Today I have a whimsical card made after experimenting with Distress Oxide inks on a gelli plate.

INFO:

  • Blue and Orange Distress Oxide pads swiped on circular gelli plate then brayered to blend.
  • A piece of packaging, that had been dry embossed with a cog embossing folder, was then dabbed lightly on top of the gelli plate to add an impression into the ink. I then spritzed the gelli plate with water before pulling a print using 300gsm white card.
  • Once the print was dry, I stamped various Lavinia stamps over it using VFC Twilight ink before die cutting with stitched circle dies by The Works. Lavinia stamps used: Flower Fairy; Butterflies and one of the Fairy Foragers. The Believe word is from a Tracy Evans set for Aall & Create.
  • Also cut a mat for the stitched circle using a Heffy Doodle Circle Frames die and SU Misty Moonlight card.
  • SU Misty Moonlight ink was brushed onto the card front in opposing corners using a craft "make-up" brush and a TCW stencil (#424 Modern Spirals).

Why not take a look at your snippets pile, pull out a few bits and see what you can make? Then come over to play in the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND - there's a lovely prize on offer - or you can just play for fun.

Sunday Snippets - Exploding Card - Look out!

Hi Playmates!

What a merry band there was at the Playground gates early on Hallowe'en . . . all dressed up in costumes ready to go out and about trick or treating. Collected a nice haul of treats that will keep us going for a while up in the Treehouse!

Today I have an exploding card to share with you! Well it IS nearly Bonfire Night after all!

This week in the Snippets Playground we made a Guy Fawkes effigy and threw it on top of a nice tall pile of wood ready to set alight on 5th November. However, there will be NO fireworks to save our little furry friends from any stress! Just enjoy the bonfire and the jacket spuds. I think Miss Di might be on soup duty.

3.5" x 5.75" card with a surprise inside!

Sorry about the shadows - better picture below!

Opened out fully

Had lots of fun making this card using the Hungarian Map Fold for the exploding insert! I made the insert after watching THIS YT TUTORIAL, using a piece of 8"x8" designer paper with a white side that I stencilled and stamped all over!

MATERIALS:

  • Folded the 8x8 sheet of designer paper using the Hungarian Map Fold, then opened it out flat and stencilled over it using various stencils (Aall & Create triangles; Maker Forte sentiment and PaperArtsy flowers) using DI Villainous Potion and Black Soot.
  • Added some text stamping in SU Island Indigo ink using a Funky Fossil stamp called Shoot For The Stars - dabbed on randomly without the use of an acrylic block.
  • Knowing the size of the finished fold (2.75" wide x a little over 5.5" long) I scored a long white snippet of card left over from making my own card blanks. The strip measured 3.5" x 11.5" and I scored and folded it in half.
  • Decorated the card front by stencilling another white snippet using the Visible Image Collision stencil (discontinued) and SU Sahara Sand ink. Stamped the flower from the Aall & Create Wildflower stamp set #565 and coloured it with Tombow pens, plus some white highlights using a Sakura Gelly Roll 08 pen.
  • Stamped the birthday sentiment using a retired SU stamp and black ink.
  • Mounted the stamped image onto a snippet of similarly coloured designer paper which I cut a quarter of inch larger all round and added it to the card front.
Happy crafting!

Sunday Snippets - Eclipse Card

Hi Playmates!

There's a new challenge to play along with over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND hosted by Miss Di for the next fortnight.

Here's my homework - a Ruby Wedding Anniversary card using the eclipse technique.

5.75" square card base

A close up of the eclipse technique

My white snippets

In the Playground, we've all been enjoying the rounds of conkers without the interference of health & safety, and so far, apart from a few rapped knuckles, there have been no serious injuries! Vicky even taped marshmallows to her hands to prevent rapped knuckles! It's been fun meeting up in the treehouse afterwards for hot chocolate. Current champion is Lesley G - who appears to have had some advice from Miss Di on how to harden her best conker with vinegar! Hmmm!

Card materials:

  • Heffy Doodle Stitched Square dies (for the 2 main panels)
  • Julie Hickey number and ordinal dies (for the eclipse technique)
  • White card snippets (for die cutting)
  • Aall & Create #565 Wildflower stamp set, stamped in SU Sahara Sand ink onto main panel.
  • Aall & Create #896 Forget Me Not stamp set. My cut-down heart was stamped over the clock image using SU Rich Razzleberry ink. I then stamped the heart again onto copy paper, cut it out and glued it over the top.

PS: Meet you at the Snippets Playground gates on Hallowe'en - Thursday, 31st Oct - to go trick or treating in the neighbourhood. Costumes on and candy bags at the ready!

Sunday Snippets - more collage!

Hi Playmates!

Last Sunday, I mentioned you would be seeing more collage cards . . . and true to my word . . . here's another!

I put the collage together using snippets from my Junk Journal shoe box of odds and ends (as before) - choosing complementary tones.

5" x 7" card

The starting point was the snippet of silhouette flowers stamped onto white card and inked around the edges, followed by grouping some torn snippets around it. I added the Tim Holtz Small Talk stickers to finish it off, then glued it to the card front.

Di has published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire her top picks and discover who won the prize. There's still another week left to play in the current challenge if you haven't already done so. The conker contest is in full swing!

Allsorts Week 802

I have had some Lavinia stamps out on my desk ready to play with for a couple of days. Tonight, I finally managed to make a card with them so I can enter the ALLSORTS CHALLENGE (Week 802) where the theme is Magical, Myths and/or Legend (or anything goes).

Card size 5" x 3.5"

Details:

  • Background = a snippet from a masterboard using white crayon resist and Distress Inks. The panel measures 4" x 2.5" and is double mounted onto Pool Party and Island Indigo SU cardstock - each of which measures a quarter of an inch more than the last mount.
  • All stamps on the main panel are by Lavinia: "Felicity"; "Fairy Bell Set"; "Butterflies". Bottom foliage stamp has been discontinued (shame as it's one of my most-used Lavinia stamps!).
  • Sentiment is by Stamping All Day (looks a bit blurry in photo, but fine IRL!)
  • Versafine Clair Warm Breeze ink was used for stamping

There are some lovely Lavinia stamps to be won if you play along at Allsorts.

Sunday Snippets - Junk Journal Collage

Hi Playmates!

Conkers at the ready! We're doing it the old-fashioned way without any safety goggles or gloves!

For the next fortnight, I'm hosting the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND challenge. So take a look at your pile of snippets (I KNOW you have some), make something with them, then come and play - and remember to bring your best conker on a string!

I have been messing about with some of my junk journal snippets and made this collage which I then added to a card front.

I created a 5" x 7" WHITE card blank, then covered the front of it with brown parcel paper (as I didn't have any Kraft card at the time).

I was inspired to use the parcel paper after absent mindedly putting the collage down on top of a Kraft envelope that was lying on my desk, while I was searching for a suitably coloured background to add the collage to!

Turns out brown parcel paper was the perfect choice as nothing else "worked" as well after I'd seen it sitting on top of the Kraft envelope!

5" x 7" card

Materials:

  • Lots of snippets from the shoe box where I keep my Junk Journal bits and bobs. The collage includes a stamped and cut out Aall & Create heart; gelli print piece and torn snippets of random stamping and papers.
  • The hand painted circle was the starting point of the collage and I just keep adding little bits to it, here and there, until I was happy.
Close up of the collage before I glued it to the card front!

This was really fun to make and I keep practising piecing these little collages together, so expect to see a few more cards using collage!

Leafy Gel Prints

Well, how about that . . . Lynn's theme over at the Allsorts Challenge fell just right . . . as I had been playing around with leaves, collected on a recent walk, and my gelli plate.

Here's the card I'm entering into the Allsorts Challenge #801 with a theme of FALLING LEAVES (or anything goes):

Details:

  • A leafy gelli print, made with acrylic paints, was cut with one of the Heffy Doodle Stitched Rectangles dies, then mounted onto a less successful print (the one in the top row, second one from the left on the photo below)
  • The mounted leaf print was then adhered to a white piece of card which had been cut using a larger stitched rectangle die from the same set. This was adhered to the card front with foam pads.

These are the gelli prints I made (cut down, ready to be made into cards):

Here are the cards I've created from the above prints so far:

Most are untouched, but the leafy sprig on the purple card
was a bit "lost" in the print, so I used a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen
to squiggle some lines around it for better definition.
Sentiments may or may not be added at a later stage.

There are a couple of sets of lovely Aall & Create stamps to won at Allsorts if you join in the fun after checking out their rules.

Sunday Snippets - Elegant Writer Pen

Hi Playmates!

It's results week over in the Snippets Playground, so why not nip over there to see who got showcased and who the lucky prize winner is?

I put my Speedball Elegant Writer pen (silver case 1.3 nib) into my satchel this week and during Art Class I stamped and coloured these flowers, then made them into cards.

Left hand card is DL size.
The right hand card was custom made to fit the image and measures: 3.25" x 5.5"

MATERIALS:

  • White snippets for stamping on and black snippets for matting.
  • Visible image flower image from Creative Chaos set stamped with Versamark Ink, sprinkled with black embossing powder and heat set.
  • Coloured with ink from the Speedball Elegant Writer pen. I scribbled the pen on a non-stick surface and used a waterbrush to pick up the ink and add to the flower image, diluting the ink and dabbing some of it off as I went, in order to achieve different depths and colour splits. I gave the sympathy card a light wash of the ink in the background.
  • I also used the EW pen to add a squiggle at the bottom of the flower to ground it.

The pen is great fun to experiment with. I bought mine from an online store beginning with A. There is a link on the GO7 blog page (see HERE) plus lots of info on the pen - and further examples. If you want a UK link to buy a pen see HERE.

It's nearly CONKER time . . . so, as mentioned by Brenda . . . we ought to go conker hunting don't you think? xxx

Another Modern Floristry Card

Hi Playmates!

Here's another card made with the Sizzix Modern Floristry set of dies. I used white snippets for the main panel as well as all the die cutting. The flowers were coloured by using brushes with various Distress Inks (with the die cut put back into the hole left from cutting it to hold it in place). The main panel was then mounted onto a piece of SU Lucky Limeade card and adhered to the card front.

I was inspired to make this card having watched this Pete Hughes You Tube video.

There's a new challenge to play along with over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND hosted by Miss Di for the next fortnight.

HAPPY CRAFTING!

I'm delighted to be a Guest Designer with Allsorts this week (thanks girls) and look forward to seeing all your makes.

Details:

  • Heffy Doodle Stitched Square dies used on white snippets to create centre panel and a frame around it. Unfortunately Heffy Doodle recently went out of business.
  • Centre panel stamped and stencilled using Stampin' Up!'s Gorgeous Grape ink with ink splat stamps from Stampin' Up!'s Gorgeous Grunge set as well as Funky Fossil's Make Art stencil.

Sympathy Card

Hi there! Thanks for dropping by my blog today.

I have a sympathy card to share with you. The focal panel was created entirely from snippets.

C6 sized card opening on right hand side.

Die cut foliage snippets - stacked & glued together.

MATERIALS:

  • C6 card blank in landscape orientation, opening on the right hand side.
  • Heffy Doodle Skinny Metric Rectangle Frame dies used to cut a white snippet to surround the patterned paper. (Heffy Doodle are no longer in business.)
  • Purple patterned paper die cut with same Heffy Doodle die for perfect match.
  • Sizzix "Hidden Leaves" dies used to cut foliage from white snippets (see photo). The leaves were glued together in a stack to create a sturdy topper for dimension.
  • Sympathy sentiment was stamped with SU Rich Razzleberry dye ink and is part of a Clearly Besotted "Small Sentiments" stamp set.

I'm entering this card into the current ALLSORTS CHALLENGE #799 where the theme is Get Well or With Sympathy (or you can use the anything goes option).

At the time of posting this, there is still a week left to play in the current SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND CHALLENGE. So if you use some snippets on your card, please feel free to come and play on the swings with us.

Artist Trading Coins & a Holder

Hi Playmates!

This trio of AT Coins and their holder were made entirely from snippets. This post is a bit picture heavy so you might want to grab a cuppa.

I originally cut a sheet of 12" x 12" double sided paper to make an ATC holder, then wondered what to do with the remaining snippet! Had a brainwave . . . and used it to make a smaller holder suitable for Coins instead of Cards!

The trio of AT Coins that filled the holder - die cutting
white snippets and patterned paper. Embellishing with more
die cuts, stamping and stencilling.

The AT Coin holder made by scoring and folding a snippet
of 12 x 12 paper and using an envelope notch punch
for the little groove.

This Coin uses the negative from die cutting a daisy out
of the circle of patterned paper, then adding a
punched out centre.
(The daisy was used for something else!)

White circle snippet, stencilled with The Greetery's brick
die. Foliage die cut from Sizzix Hidden Leaves set.
Words from Aall & Create's The Good set.
Circular frame die cut from the patterned paper.

Die cut circle of patterned paper, plus a white frame.
Visible Image words stamped in embossing ink, sprinkled
with white EP and heat set. Sprig from Sizzix Hidden Leaves set.

A tiny card I made from a white snippet and inserted
into one of the holder's pockets - using up another snippet
of the double sided patterned paper.
I also punched out stars from a different snippet of the same paper.
Not sure who made the sentiment stamp.

The front of the holder - using up a purple square and
the blue graph heart which were originally
someone else's snippets! LOL!

I had heaps of fun making this little holder and its contents and then posted it off to surprise a friend who I normally trade Artist Trading CARDS with, not Artist Trading COINS! Well they do say variety is the spice of life don't they?!

If you have some snippets to use up (and let's face it, who doesn't?) . . . why not make something and join in with the current SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND CHALLENGE. You're sure of a friendly welcome and are free to come and play on the swings.

Sunday Snippets - Pretty in Pink!

Hi Playmates!

I'm hosting a new challenge over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND for the next fortnight. So take a look at your pile of snippets (I KNOW you have some), make something with them, then come and play!

In my satchel this week, I have cake, chocolate and bubbly to celebrate someone special's birthday. You'll find me, Di and Dudley, plus the usual suspects, getting up to mischief in the treehouse  - come and join in the fun!

Here's my homework: I had lots of fun creating this floral card from my pile of white snippets.

Materials:

  • Everything apart from the card base was originally a white snippet.
  • Distress Oxide Inks in Walnut Stain and Kitsch Flamingo were used to colour all the white die cut snippets as well as the panels they are attached to.
  • Sizzix Modern Floristry die set by Tim Holtz used for all the flowers and foliage.
  • Simply Said sentiment stamp by Uniko, cut out with scissors and stuck on either with foam pads or tiny snippets glued to it to build it up (I can't remember which!).
  • Script background stamp (possibly by IndigoBlu) - stamped to the right of the panel after it was lightly brushed with Walnut Stain DOX ink.

Enjoy the week ahead. Wishing you plenty of time to craft.

Autumnal ATC

Here's an autumnal ATC I made last night so I could join in with Week 797 of the ALLSORTS CHALLENGE where they want to see you using Autumn Colours (or you can choose the Anything Goes option).

Artist Trading Card measuring 2.5" x 3.5"

Card Info:

  • Magazine snippet glued to piece of packaging measuring 2 3/8" x 3 3/8".
  • Using my finger I applied orange and blue acrylic paint to the magazine paper, mixing those colours in places to create green.
  • Once the paints were dry, I stamped over the top with various stamps by PaperArtsy; Kaisercraft and IndigoBlu using black Ranger Archival ink.
  • I rubbed some white gesso over the top so that the leaves would stand out from the background.
  • A white snippet of card was used to die cut the stem using the "Hidden Leaves" set by Sizzix. It was smeared with paints left over on my non-stick craft sheet from creating the background.
  • Black splatters were stamped on the die cut stem using a stamp from SU's "Gorgeous Grunge" set (discontinued) and black archival ink.
  • Shadows were created by using a black Stabilo All pencil and a waterbrush..
  • Finally I stamped the  word "Flourish" onto a white snippet, cut it out with scissors and glued it on. The word is from Aall & Create's stamp set #628 "Spread a Little Happiness".
  • Then everything was glued onto a white snippet of 300gsm card measuring 2.5" x 3.5" for the correct ATC size.

Sunday Snippets - Eclipse Technique

Hi Playmates!

My satchel is practically bursting at the seams with homework, but there's still plenty of room for a few bottles of hooch, bars of chocolate and packets of crisps ready for After School Club.

I was busy admiring Lesley and Val's cards made using the Eclipse Technique, so, after refreshing my memory by watching Chrissie Stokes's video - I had a go myself. Thanks for the inspiration girls!

5.75 x 5.75" square card

White snippets die cut for the layers.

Details:

  • Julie Hickey "birthday" die to create the Eclipse technique (see THIS YT VIDEO) - die cut from the image panel once, and from white snippets x3.
  • AALL & Create flower stem from stamp set #985 Flower Smudge, stamped in SU Misty Moonlight ink.
  • Heffy Doodle stitched square dies (retired) to die cut the panel and mount.

I went on to make a wedding card (here) after I tried out the technique on the birthday card above, but the wedding card got blogged first!

I have published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire the top picks and discover which lucky playmate won the prize.

Have a lovely week.

HAPPY CRAFTING.
