It’s time for another round of inspiration from The Stamp Review Crew. If this is your very first visit, we are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose mission is to do a blog hop on the first and third Mondays of each month. Our hops are unique because each of us features the same stamp set. This week it is one of my favorite sets from the Occasions Catalog, Lift Me Up.  I am Stop #11 on the hop. The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ high when folded.

For today’s hop,  I opted to create a soft, shabby chic card in shades of Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake. I used the mini-sized “Swirly Cloud” image to distress everything, starting with the large balloon cut-out created with the Up & Away Thinlits. 

Swirly Cloud stamp This little stamp is perfect for adding a touch of interest to anything.  Keeping true to my nature, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add pearls.

To create the sky, I inked up a large Acrylic Block with Soft Sky ink and stamped directly onto a Very Vanilla card stock panel.  I then randomly stamped all over using the Swirly Cloud image, first inked in Soft Sky, and then inked in Crumb Cake.

The smaller balloons were both stamped twice, once in Crumb Cake and once in Blushing Bride.  I then paper pieced each one.  Once again, I just had to add a few pearls.

As you can see, the smaller balloons were also distressed using the Swirly Cloud image. I love this little image!

As a finishing touch, I added an asymmetrical bow created with Blushing Bride ribbon.

Hey, Chick!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This card measures 4-1/4″ wide x 5-1/2″ tall when folded.

  • Photobomber! With the exception of the crazy mop-top photobomber, this family of chickens was paper pieced using patterns from the Carried Away Designer Series Paper Collection, a Sale-A-Bration freebie! While one side features patterns that coordinate with the Lift Me Up Bundle from the Occasions Catalog, the other side has patterns perfect for decking out chickens! Of course, the adorable Hey, Chick stamp set is also one of the available SAB choices.

  • Chicken wire! Settle down with a good movie and get ready to put those Paper Snips to work if you don’t want your chickens to fly the coop.  I brayered Archival Basic Black ink onto the  Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and ran it through the Big Shot to create the illusion of chicken wire.  I then snipped out the middles of the hexagons and brayered the “wire” with Smoky Slate ink.  It’s a lot of snipping for sure, but the effect is oh, so cute!

  • Another view! Rather than using glue, I simply stapled my wire in place, and then cut out the section which was over the chickens.  The Speckles image from Glorious Grunge was used to add some gravel.

Here is another card I created earlier which features the Hey, Chick stamp set.  It was too cute not to showcase it again.

Butterfly Basics for The Paper Players

The Paper Players are having a wonderful theme challenge this week: Clean and Simple Featuring a Flower.  I pulled out one of my favorite sets, Butterfly Basics, to create today’s card.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This card measures 4-1/4″ wide x 5-1/2″ tall when folded.

  • Soft and feminine! Stamps from the Butterfly Basics set, as well as the Speckles image from Gorgeous Grunge, were inked in Tip Top Taupe and stamped off in order to create the background panel.

  • Snip! Snip! Snip! The Flower image was faux water colored using Blender Pens, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz inks.  It was then snipped out with Paper Snips before being popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Although it does not show up in the picture, in real life these blossoms have a lovely shimmer courtesy of Clear Wink of Stella.

  • A bow and a butterfly! A cheater bow was fashioned from Blushing Bride ribbon to add a touch of texture.  And what could be a better finishing touch than a Perfect Plum butterfly?

In my haste to snap a few pictures of this card, I did forget to add pearls.  But rest assured that before I send it out, I will be adding a pearl or two!

Good News

As several of you already know through emails we have exchanged, I received the results of Brody’s biopsies.  Neither lump was cancerous! Woo hoo!  His incisions are healing nicely.  Of course, it is so important to get plenty of rest, so he has been taking his fair share of naps!

Beautiful You for The Paper Players and Freshly Made Sketches

I am thrilled to combine my two favorite challenges this week:   The Paper Players and Freshly Made Sketches.  The result is a quick and easy, clean and simple design which uses the Beautiful You stamp set.  I hope you enjoy today’s little paper-pieced gal in red!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This folded card measures 5-1/2″ wide x 4-1/4″ tall.

  • Cover your bases!  A 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Thick Whisper White card stock was scored at 4-1/4″ to form the card base.  The front was then covered with a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Diagonal Striped  Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • Lady in Red! The Glamour Girl image was stamped in Archival Basic Black Ink onto Whisper White card stock.  She was then inked up and stamped again onto the Mini-Heart pattern from the Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack.  The dress and hat were cut out and adhered onto the image which was stamped on the card stock. How much this reminded me of my paper doll days!

  • The finishing touches! A cute little Basic Black Baker’s Twine bow adds a touch of texture. In keeping with the simplicity of the card, the sentiment was stamped directly onto the Designer Paper.

Beautiful You was a set I I knew I had to have the moment I saw it.  I love to water color and paper piece, and this set is perfect for both. Plus, I absolutely adore the “Live, Laugh, Love” sentiment which is included as one of the sentiments.

I will be sending this card to Brady’s girlfriend who will soon be celebrating her birthday.  I am tucking it in a box which contains a pair of LuLaRoe Giraffe pattern leggings (she loves giraffes) and a Paper Pumpkin kit.  Since she is starting a new adventure in the state of Washington, I thought the Another Great Year kit would be a good one for her.  Brady and I also did a little shopping for her at Goodwill, where he found an adorable little fox mug and two necklaces he thought she would like.  I am so proud of him.  On his limited budget, he found gifts that are truly from his heart and that he knows she will love.

As I leave you today, I want to let you know that Brody the Boxer had two lumps removed Monday.  We have yet to receive the biopsy results, so we still have no idea as to the type and grades of the tumors.  But on the bright side, after a wobbly start, he is doing great! He’s eating, drinking, and enjoying his short walks on these rainy days.

I just had to share this family picture taken Monday evening a few hours after he was brought home from the vet. Jackie, Kia and Muffy did not leave his side, and were quite concerned.  In fact, we have all been sleeping on the floor, since he is not yet allowed to jump onto our very tall bed.

Nailed It for Freshly Made Sketches

In the midst of preparing for an impending ice storm, which is set to hit here Sunday, I managed to ink up the Nailed It stamp set for the first time. Oh my gosh! This was a bundle I had reservations in purchasing, but now that I have played with it, I LOVE it. The Urban Underground Designer Series Paper and Embellishments are the perfect choices for this set. And I can’t say enough about the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I wish you could see these hexagons in person.  They are amazing! The sketch for today’s card comes from one of my favorite challenges, Freshly Made Sketches.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ when folded.

Watercolor Pencils rule! I colored the Screwdriver image using the Daffodil Delight and Basic Grey pencils.  To add a little more shading, I added Delightful Dijon ink using a Blender Pen.

The adorable Ruler was created with the Build It framelits and Silver Foil.  You can also get an idea in this picture of the deep impressions made with the Hexagons Dynamic Folder.

Of course, with a Screwdriver image, you just have to have Screws!  Enter the Urban Underground Embellishments.  How cute are these!

In keeping with the theme, I selected the “Sorry I screwed up” sentiment.  But I think I will switch it out later for one of our many “Happy Birthday” sentiments, and use this as a masculine birthday card.

I cut the Label die cut from the Build It framelits out twice: once from Very Vanilla card stock and once from a snippet of Urban Underground Designer Paper.  I cut the designer paper one in half, and adhered it to the back of the sentiment label, just for a little extra oomph!

If it is not already there, I would definitely add the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to your Wish List.  It is a versatile classic.  If you purchase it and the Nailed It Bundle, you would automatically qualify for a free Sale-A-Bration goody! You just can’t beat FREE!

Hot Air Balloons Just for Fun

Oh my gosh!  It has been a busy time here at The Stampin’ Schach!  However, I did get time to play with the hot air balloons from Stampin’ Up!’s new Lift Me Up stamp set and Up & Away Thinlits Dies.  What fun! I hope you enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This card measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ when folded.

Be selective! The two smaller hot air balloons were selectively inked using Night of Navy and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Write Markers.  Of course, I couldn’t resist adding a few Rhinestones for sparkle.  I rarely use the strips, so this seemed like a perfect time to use up some of my stash!

The larger hot air balloon was easy to make.  Using the appropriate Up & Away Thinlits, I crafted it from Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Watermelon Wonder and Night of Navy card stocks.  My big tip is to use the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere the layers to the Balloon “frame”.

To add depth, the large balloon was “popped” up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The cloud placement really adds to the perspective.

For those of you who may want to give this card a try, the Soft Sky panel measures 3-1/8″ wide and 4-3/8″ long.  The Night of Navy mat is 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″.  The Lift Me Up Clear Mount bundle, 144712, costs $45.75.  Just add the Fine Tip Glue Pen, and qualify for a free Sale-A-Bration product.  My suggestion would be the Carried Away Designer Series Paper, 143608.  It is made to coordinate with this bundle, and is oh so cute!

Dragonfly Dreams for Freshly Made Sketches

Dragonfly Dreams is one of the sets which spoke my name when I first opened up the 2017 Occasions Catalog.  A lover of art nouveau, dragonflies have always been one of my favorite images.  And what better sketch to show off this winged beauty than Jen Mitchell’s classic sketch for Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #268.  Enjoy today’s card.

This card measure 5-1/4″ square when folded.

Every card deserves a good foundation, and Jen’s sketch provides just that.  I used patterns from the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper Collection, matted onto Gold Foil.  The colors of these papers are so soft and subtle.  The Gold Foil adds just the perfect touch of elegance.

 

The Soft Suede Dragonfly was popped on top of a Gold Foil specimen, which had been created with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.  Of course, every dragonfly deserves Pearls, so I added a few on the tail.

Metallic Gold Thread and Gold 1/4″ Natural Trim ribbon complete the look.
