Shalom Community Farm is the desire to create a place and programming that celebrates and supports culture (our roots), collaboration (collective growth), health and wellness, and connection to the natural environment, right here in Houston, Texas.

There is endless wisdom to be found in the garden. The garden is where culture and nature converse. Our cultural and religious traditions are intertwined with the agricultural cycles. Fruits of the earth sustain us, and some become meaningful objects and symbols of faith.
Community gardens and farms revel in a spirit of collaboration and growth. Everyone is welcome. Projects come to fruition, and participants feel pride and ownership. There is something about this work, outdoors, that reframes the conversation and dissolves boundaries.

This project expands the means to engage and bring together all members of the Houston Jewish Community, and to serve Houstonians at large. It brings a world of potential to enrich lives and strengthen community.
Houston, Texas is a phenomenal place to grow food. Our climate allows for year-round cultivation, and water is in good supply. Compost, the magic ingredient, transforms our clay into living soil.

Shalom Community Farm is a project of Amir.
