March is an exciting time of year because we come together to celebrate the many achievements led by bold, courageous and inspirational women. As part of those celebrations on International Women's Day, Facebook’s employee resource group, Women@, partnered with #shemeansbusiness to host a series of 24-hour Facebook Live interviews featuring women entrepreneurs. Business owners, civic leaders, change makers and non-profit visionaries shared their stories of success and failures. See some highlights from the day at the end of this story. We also honored Women’s History Month by celebrating the bold and inspiring women of Facebook, working toward our mission to connect the world. Meet a few of them below and learn what they're most proud of. Happy Women's History Month!

I love problem solving and my role at Facebook enables me to be a creative problem-solver on a daily basis either in my individual work or through coaching my team on how to best tackle a challenge. The learning possibilities are endless at Facebook and having a role that enables development of the global economy is very fulfilling. Whenever I see feedback from a customer thanking us for fueling their business, I feel very proud. I know that job creation at a micro level impacts the macro economy and starts a positive cycle.

Facebook hosted a black leadership panel event to give people a safe space to discuss a hot topic in our country today — “How to have candid conversations about race and diversity in the Silicon Valley tech space.” Attendees with a background in tech came together to network, connect, and learn from one another.

Passion breeds ideas, innovation, and impact. This is the foundation of Facebook's product engineering team. Facebook consists of a large family of products and features built by people with a passion to help us achieve our mission of making the world more open and connected. From Facebook Pages that help people, brands, businesses, public figures and many others to engage with people, to Games, K-12 Personalized Learning Plan, Amber Alert, and Safety Check, Facebook products enable people to connect and share the things that matter the most. Engineers who work on these products are responsible for building them from concept to launch, and iterating beyond. Depending on the product, this requires strong knowledge of a mix of disciplines including computer science, data analysis, and user experience.

Here are some reactions and stories from our teammates who shared their experiences working at Facebook.

I started as an engineer on the ads engineering team, over time, I became really passionate about how businesses use social media to grow, and I worked on a number of projects at Facebook, around that theme. I had come from the start-up world, so I needed to learn how to be effective at a larger company, and the people I worked with were really helpful with that, there is a strong culture of feedback where people see it as their job to give and ask for feedback a lot. I started managing at Facebook after a few years and really appreciated the leadership development at Facebook, I had a lot of blind spots that people at Facebook helped me through as I learned to manage and lead larger teams. I wound up having the opportunity to move to London to help us grow the office there and have really enjoyed the chance to understand more about leadership within global companies.

I never saw Facebook as a company to work at, even though I used the platform almost every day. But after seeing there were so many opportunities on their careers page I decided to dive a little deeper into working here. What struck me the most was the reason behind why Facebook is such a global community. Being a vital connection between so many people and businesses is exactly what I was looking for. I was searching for an international environment, with people from all over the world, in an international city with good connections, plenty of challenges still to solve and the autonomy to work on what you’d like to do. Facebook is all of these things and I couldn’t be happier with my choice of applying to become a part of Facebook.

It’s pretty hard to pick just one thing, but it would probably be the extent to which I was looked after and provided for. It’s amazing how much clearer you can think, and how much more you can get done, when you don’t have to worry about the little things like: “How am I going to find an apartment?”, “What am I going to eat today?” or “What am I going to do for fun this week?”, because that’s all being provided by the company you work for. I really like the fact that Facebook makes sure there’s nothing stopping you from achieving your goals during your internship – it’s like the ultimate test to see what you’re really capable of when there’s no obstacles in your way.
