About:
Diego is a wild food advocate based in Sydney, most famous for his offering of urban foraging workshops.
Building on the knowledge acquired while growing up on a farm in Italy, Diego introduces people to the ever-present food and medicine plants that surround us.
He collaborates extensively with chefs, herbalists, environmentalists and cultural workers promoting a new understanding of what the environment has to offer.
He works to enable convivial conversations around belonging, sustainability and agency. In other words, he offers an alternative for people to re-engage with their neighbourhoods, streets and footpaths through edible adventures.
Exhibitions and commissions have included Foodfight (a C3West commission in partnership with the MCA and Liverpool Council, Sydney, 2016); The Rocks Windmill (2013, workshops and public sculpture); Wild Stories (two years of workshops and a solo show, Casula Powerhouse Art Centre, 2012); and State of the Arts (group exhibition, Italian Pavilion, Venice Biennale 2011).
Diego is now collaborating with a cluster of developers, web producers, foragers and horticulturalists to create Wild Food Map a community to identify public domain food and medicine plants living in the landscape, sharing locations and related knowledge through social media interaction.
Diego is also a core member of Big Fag Press, where he provides mentorship to emerging artists and supports Sydney’s print culture through workshops and exhibitions.

Magic is back

After the driest summer on record, autumn has brought some hefty downpours. Yet this has not at all replenished the record low ground water levels, nor increased the flow of rivers and streams.
It is so dry that even though the last rainfall was just a few days ago, the mushrooms that have popped out of the ground have become dry and have a stunted growth.
Yet there are a few spots that were absolutely amazing last autumn, that have some really amazing specimens like this one just coming out of the ground. This is in a very dark location under dense spruce, and there is no vegetation – not even mosses growing here, which makes the beautifully colored fly agaric stand out like a manifestation of magic.
As the days are still much warmer than normal, these mushrooms grow incredibly fast. Just before encountering this one I checked on another specimen I had encountered the day before to capture its beautiful appearance before it opened up. But opened up it was! The day before it was just like this one, and the next day it was fully grown!
Autumn is still very young, and if more rainfall come along, the autumn might be a great one for mushrooms, but I think it will be a long time before any can compare to that of the autumn of 2017.

Preliminary production figures for August 2018 show an average daily production of 1 870 000 barrels of oil, NGL and condensate, which is a decrease of 42 000 barrels per day compared to July.
Total gas sales were 10.2 billion Sm3 (GSm3), which is a decrease of 0.4 GSM3 from the previous month.
Average daily liquids production in August was: 1 502 000 barrels of oil, 338 000 barrels of NGL and 30 000 barrels of condensate.
Oil production is approx. 0.2 percent lower than the NPD's forecast for August, and about 3.5 percent below the forecast this year.
The total petroleum production for the first eight months in 2018 is about 154.5 million Sm3 oil equivalents (MSm3 o.e.), broken down as follows: about 58.2 MSm3 o.e. of oil, about 14.4 MSm3 o.e. of NGL and condensate and about 81.9 MSm3 o.e. of gas for sale.
The total volume is 5.3 MSm3 o.e. lower than in 2017.
