I was mildly excited for Justice League, mostly just because it's a superhero team-up movie. I had no other good reason to be excited for it. DC hasn't regained my trust completely. They rushed into this movie without explaining four of the JL members, three of which don't have movies, and the other shared his movie with Superman and Wonder Woman. They didn't need to make JL until several years down the road, giving them a chance to flesh out the members so we have a reason to give a shit.

Steppenwolf is the most boring and hackneyed villain of all time, but as I'm a sucker for big scary baddies with huge axes, it's at least fun to watch him beat the shit outta people. I liked his voice actor, I guess. This movie really isn't much more than your typical "there's a threat coming so we have to bring together people who don't get along to save the world from bad dude" bullshit. And Steppenwolf's plan is literally the same as Zod's: He wants to use a magical machine thing to reform the Earth so that it resembles his home world. So, in other words, stupid unrealistic unoriginal motivation. Sigh

Flash is miscast and lazily-written. He's an imbecilic megaphone for dumbass jokes the whole time and his individual story with his jailbird father is criminally undeveloped and lame. Not to mention he looks like a total retard when he runs.

The only really good scene in this movie is when Superman is revived and they need to fight him because he's lost and confused. That honestly should've been the movie. I would watch something like that. Furthermore, Superman is an overpowered cudgel who can fend off Steppenwolf with little effort, rendering most other JL members totally useless, except for Cyborg who separated the Mother Boxes. Give these people something to do for god's sake.

As expected, Diana carries the movie because she's the only one we really give a shit about. Batman and Flash are miscast and uncharacteristic of their cartoon/comic counterparts. The only person who has a discernible arc in this movie is Cyborg, and it's still unearned and silly. The problem with all this shit is that the filmmakers wrote it expecting everyone to know, love, and buy these characters so they didn't have to put effort and thought into writing them. They were partially right, but obviously that's a grossly lazy way to make a movie. Wonder Woman's movie was good, Aquaman's movie was good, everything else in DCEU is either so-so or boring. Considering Cavill and Affleck are out, DCEU is pretty beyond saving, but I have hopes for Shazam and it'll be interesting to see how they try to douse this dumpster fire.
