Channel 4 becomes the first UK on-demand TV service to become integrated with Google Assistant across Google’s family of Home devices.
Viewers of the Channel 4 can ask Google Assistant to play their favourite shows from All 4 on Chromecast, from their Google Home and Google Home Mini.
A viewer will be able to say for example, “Hey Google, play Gogglebox on All 4”, and their TV will seamlessly access the series from the All 4 app via their Chromecast.
For Channel 4, this is first major voice integration with Google, enabling viewers to watch Channel 4 shows quickly on their big screens at home.”
Edward Kenney, Head of UK Product Partnerships, Google Home, added: “We are delighted that Channel 4 viewers in the UK will be able to easily access their favourite TV programmes using simple voice commands. One of the joys of Google Home is to assist in making life’s tasks easier, simpler and more fun for everyone.”

Google Showcases Google Assistant With New Phone Booth Demos
Google is teaming up with +T-Mobile to install experimental demos in signature T-Mobile stores in Chicago and San Francisco.
The demos aim to blend old tech with new tech — they are styled after phone booths, and inside them, customers will be able to both demo hardware like the LG G7 ThinQ, JBL Pulse 3, and Google Home Mini, and software — the Google Assistant. Of course, once you have experienced Google Assistant, you will be able to buy compatible devices from T-Mobile.
Three type of booths/demos will be showcased,
- “Tiny Gym,” basically involves customers asking Google Assistant to play a workout playlist while customers use resistance bands.
- “Tiny Kitchen” involves Assistant looking up recipes and setting timers for cooking time.
- “Tiny Museum,” in which customers can pick up a phone and use Google Lens to learn about paintings and artists featured in the Art Institute of Chicago.
Demos will be running for next three months, and you can check them out for yourselves at T-Mobile’s flagship stores in Chicago and San Francisco.
This isn’t the first time we have seen the phone booth demos, which first showed up at CES earlier in the year. Then, recently, Google launched a mini-golf pop-up in New York City, in which each hole was aimed at showcasing what Google Assistant can do in a different room of the house. It’s likely we will see more experiences like this as Google continues to take on the competition.

YouTube Red Original Promoted Via Google Assistant Streaming
Google advertises latest YouTube Original by making first episode free via Assistant.
Impulse is a YouTube Red series that recently debuted. The show is based on the novel with the same name, and follows 16-year-old character Henrietta, also known as Henry. Impulse is a series from Bourne Identity director Doug Liman about a young girl who can teleport herself out of trouble, at the cost of breaking everything (and everyone) in the vicinity.
Google is making the first episode available to anyone who uses Google Assistant to launch it. To do that, users must tell the Assistant to “Talk to Impulse.” Once that command is received, Google Assistant will rattle off a quick intro to the show and ask the user for the secret password.
The user then gives the password, which is “Henry” or other variations of the main character’s name (“Henry Coles,” etc). If you don’t give it the password, Assistant will send you off to research the show and figure out the name yourself. The series will be a YouTube Red Original and require a subscription going forward to access the remainder of the series.
It’s an interesting way to not only promote the upcoming show, but also a way to promote Google Assistant and its feature that lets you talk to it to stream content just by speaking to it.

Google Home can now speak in Spanish dialects from US, Mexico, and Spain
The Spanish language has had Google Assistant support for a long time now on phones, but only in a generic format. Google has rolled out three new Spanish dialects to make the Assistant voice sound more natural to your native ear.
Google Assistant now speaks Spanish dialects: España, México, and EE.UU. (Estados Unidos). Available in Google Home’s settings, users can adjust the device’s language to one of three Spanish dialects including España, México, and EE.UU, which are used in Spain, Mexico, and the US respectively.
To change your language settings on Google Home, open up the Google Home app, navigate to “More Settings,” and find your Home speaker in the “Devices” section. Under that, there should be an option to change “Assistant language,” with support for these new options listed.

Google will help you keep track of all the 2018 FIFA World Cup action
To help you kick off your FIFA World Cup™ watch-a-thon, Google has some tricks up its sleeve to assist fans around the globe, to keep track of what’s happening on and off the pitch.
Keep your eyes on the match and ask your Google Assistant for updates on all the World Cup action. If you want to find out who won the match between Germany and Mexico, which players have scored the most goals in this year’s quest for the Golden Boot, or how many FIFA World Cups Brazil has won, just say “Hey Google” and ask away!
You’ll also get fun BTW (by the way) stats for some of your questions, so keep your ears open.
Other Google products will also be on hand to improve the experience, including Search, Google Doodles, News, Trends, Youtube, and Maps. Now let’s start the countdown to kick-off!
