No. 391 – Dream drops

I’ve waited.
For nothing.
I’m drying.
Clouds are appearing.
But looks are deceiving.
Dreams drift on clouds.
Then land on the ground.
Sleep.
Germinate.
Grow.
Then evaporate,
Floating away,
Looking down,
For wandering souls,
Begging,
For raindrops.

“Our happiest moments as tourists always seem to come when we stumble upon one thing while in pursuit of something else.”
Was so happy to spend those few moments of solitude & beauty in the Cairngorms while on our road trip to Fort William.
Those majestic mountains against the perfect blue skies & floating clouds; the peace that is lingering in the air, the feel of that space cannot be described in words, only experienced by yourself! 🏞⛰🌲⛰🏞⛰🌲⛰🏞⛰🌲⛰🏞⛰

"Carina Skies"

No, this scene is not taken during the day, but at night with the moon at 61% and high in the sky. The light of the Milkyway is significantly washed out and only the brightest sections can be still seen (without excessive processing). The silent pillars of the Pinnacles are illuminated under the ethereal light of the moon, and in the night sky even the glow from the moon cannot hide the might Carina Nebula that shines like a pink rose in the dark blue heavens above. Towards the bottom left is the Large Magellanic Cloud which is drowning in the brightness close to the southern horizon.

I used an Skywatcher StarAdventurer sky tracking mount to take this 3x4 panel mosaic (but cropped signifantly from a large but uninspiring vertical pano). A Canon EOS6d (modified) was used through a Canon 50mm f/1.2 lens stopped down to f/3.5. All camera and lens settings were kept the same for all panels, and all shots were taken one immediately after the other. The tracking mount was used for the sky and turned off for the foreground panels. Stitching in PTGui, colour balance, noise reduction, saturation and some brightness / contrast adjustment in Photoshop. Details below.

Details as follows:

| 2018-08-19 | Nambung National Park, Western Australia | EOS6D modified | Canon 50 f1.2 lens | @f/3.5 | UV/IR cut-filter | ISO1600 | 30s | 12 x panels | Skywatcher StarAdventurer mount |

Enjoy,
Will Vrbasso.
