#ThreeFictionalCharacters that describe me.
Casey Jones: Because I relate best to mutants and am typically the loner who helps the good guys when he can or must.
Plus I'm slightly claustrophobic and once tried to sleep in my beat-up old truck.
Clark W. Griswold: Because I, like Clark am oftentimes an oblivious idiot with massive character flaws who drives everyone in his care into a ditch... but I love my family immensely. They are at the core of my identity.
David Dunn: Because like the character in Unbreakable, I too have not fully dealt with my personal baggage and it's keeping me from being the steward/minister/caretaker/protector I am meant to be.
...and I was supposed to be paying attention in this meeting.ο»Ώ

+Ian Hβββ laid out one of the best perspectives on Nintendo-haters I've read here:β¬
People bash on bad, everpresent pop music and it's lovers for being brainless, but the truth is, we have a 'pop music' for every category and thing.
For gaming, our 'pop music' is the terrifically misnamed 'AAA gaming', and it's mindless focus on Hollywood style visuals, generic appeal for the masses, dumbed down gameplay, and edgy 'mature' themes, which are about as adult as a teenager that thinks he's cool for using the F word all the time. Heck, that last one, or oversized versions of them, are probably who designs the games. : P
Point being, Nintendo doesn't fit into pop culture gaming. It's the underrated movie made with real love facing off against Bay's newest Transformers/TMNT. It's a version of the indie band that plays every style except the regurgitated, mindless crap that people want them to play. It's the TV show that wants to aim for something deeper, versus making something with teens and love triangles. It's the book that dares tell an enthralling story instead of putting vampires on the cover.
These people aren't the brightest. They're told what to do, think, and love by social osmosis and marketers, rather than ever having an original thought. As long as Nintendo finds its own path, and focuses on quality, rather than pandering, Nintendo will always be 'gay', 'for kids', 'casual' (projection much?) or whatever ubiquitous write-off term these people can find.
It's best to not take them too seriously, and talk about them as the pop culture zombies they are.
For some deeper thoughts/ramblings on Nintendo, check out +Ian Hββββ's Nintendo Talk collection. He brings up some great points.
