Last night I went down to Princes Pier to do some long exposures. One day I will go there and get the conditions I want, like clouds. No clouds mean nothing in the sky and the sunset is pretty boring. Still, you try to see what you can get and this is one of the ones I got. I'm still trying the Nikon D810 but have to say I'm finding many of the same problems with long exposures that I have with my D800. Maybe there is no perfect camera for the process and you just have to do heaps of work in post.

A long exposure of a pier down at Blairgowrie. I was using the Formatt Hitech Firecrest 16 stop ND filter for this one as it was so bright and sunny. Really not good conditions for long exposure, well not for my Nikon D800. I end up with lots of things in the image that I don't want there due the age of the sensor, apparently. Something I need to look at this year. I was having a lovely morning with @fimorley5 and her daughter @samorleyy. I have enough long exposure gear that we could all have 16 stops, it was good.

TIP - Long exposure photography isn't hard, but the conditions have to be good to get those outstanding images. I am going to be teaching long exposure photography so if you are interested send me a message.

My review of this amazing camera, really the only problem with it is that I don't own one.

Another street view, I think I might like them. This is the Harbour Esplanade down at Docklands. I like the tram tracks and while the tram lines at the top can appear messy they really are what Melbourne is all about. I've tried removing them in other other images and then it just doesn't look right.

TIP - So my tip today is to remember that, if you start removing too much from an image then you can lose the character of a place. Before careful with the removal tools.
