Hummelschwärmer │ Broad-bordered bee hawk-moth
Hemaris fuciformis (Linnaeus, 1758)
Der Hummelschwärmer ist ein tagaktiver Nachtfalter aus der Familie der Schwärmer (Sphingidae). Er startet am späten Vormittag in den Tag auf der Suche nach nektarreichen Pflanzen und einem Partner. Das Weibchen legt seine Eier bei uns in Unterfranken an Rote Heckenkirsche (Lonicera xylosteum). Hier bevorzugt der Falter die ehr unscheinbaren Pflanzen im Halbschatten. Dort legt er seine Eier auf die Unterseite der Blätter ab. Die Raupe sitzt gerne auf der Miettelrippe der Blätter und frisst Löcher in das Blatt. So kann man gezielt nach den Raupen an geeigneten Stellen suchen. Nach der letzten Häutung verfärbt sich die Unterseite der Raupe braun. Ein eindeutiges Zeichen, dass die Raupe kurz vor ihrer Verwandlung zu Puppe ist. Wenn die komplette Raupe braun ist verpuppt sie sich in loser Vegetation am Boden. Die Puppe überwintert und der Falter schlüpft dann ab Mai. Bei einer unvollständigen zweiten Generation kann der Falter auch im August beobachtet werden.
