This app is very good, probably one of the best I've used. It's highly customizable and will definitely meet the needs of most users. Just wish the dev would add the capability to modify the background with colors, patterns and pics... Update: Still using this app, just can't find another that I enjoy using as much as I enjoy Textra. However, still no ability to modify the background! Can't figure out why! ! !

This used to be my favorite texting app, so many great features and it really let's you utilize updates made to Android. I had used the app that came with my Verizon phone for a little bit when I did a factory reset (message+) and found it had features this doesn't... And it won't me over. Please bring built in read indicators, typing notifications, and location sharing. Will gladly change to 5 stars if these updates are added.

I LOVE THIS APP!! 😘 Updated App... One concern: 376MB of Internal Storage!! 😰Cannot be moved to SD Card either!?! 😭 Can Devs change the Storage Option?! 🌈 I've really enjoyed this app!! Hope v. 3.44 update does what it claims! I've got my neighbor using Textra too! 😉💖🌻~ I'll rate 5⭐'s if the Developers put their College Degree minds together & change to SD Card as a storage option 😍 376MB is a lot of Internal storage on my LG Stylo2!! 😲

I gotta say I LOVE the new improvements – custom contact colors and dark mode in the evening are all nice touches along with smooth performance and various functions. This surely is the BEST SMS app in the market. Suggestions: custom backgrounds; swipe – delete messages and move to trash; & archive – or – messages received today in a separate block above the rest. :) 👊🏻👍🏻

Outstanding application. There is so many good things to say about Textra but my favorite thing is the new ability to decide the placement of the ads. Also I want to say that it's lightning fast - even on older hardware. I would recommend this to anyone who wants an SMS application that is fast, easy to use, and extremely versatile. The user interface just makes sense to me; everything is right where I want it to be and does exactly what I expect it to do. I wish I could give more stars because these guys really deserve it.

I'm not sure what all the fuss about this app is. I guess if you're interested in customizing text messages it might be okay but I'm looking more for basic features missing from most texting apps. The deal-breaker and the poor rating for this one are mostly because it provides no real extra features over standard apps and I cannot even open a contact by clicking on the name or icon of the person in the text message. A important oversight.

All the Android messaging apps would split long messages into multiple texts which was quite frustrating. This was the only one I found where I could write long texts and it would stay contained in 1 message. It's really straightforward and easy to use. I can add contacts, images, gifs and more easily. It has a really great interface. I very much recommend this app.

A very kind review Miriyam. Thanks for your 5 stars and enjoy Textra. Update . Five stars. Definitely the best texting program I've ever used. I had been using Chomp for the last 8 years having constant issues but I liked being able to customize everything. All of a sudden they write me because of all the problems and told me they had another texting program, which is Textra. Basically the same personalization but somehow better. And no app issues whatsoever. By far the best customizable text program out there!

Thanks Carol, hope for 5 stars soon. Ran this on my note 3, my S7 and my V20 now it's on my Razer phone. I love this app and how customizable it is. My only tiny gripe (probably no one's fault) is that the option to change the icon color doesn't work with Lawnchair. (which is a fantastic Pixel style launcher) I also can't get the icon color to change with nova prime and razer themes as well. Still a dope messaging app! Highly recommend!

Thanks heaps Drew! :) This is the best texting app out there. I've been using it for years and it keeps getting better and better. Free version is FANTASTIC with only one, non intrusive ad that sometimes isn't even there. I've been. Pro user for a couple years now so that may have changed but I had to support the developer because this is one great app.

Also would be nice if we can see real time when the other person is texting and if they've seen our message. My stock LG messenger can so...

Pls email [email protected] I used to use this app but started back again after YAATA was giving me a couple of issues. This app is hands down the best SMS/MMS that I have ever used! It's updated, smooth, fast and has all the features you would want in this type of app.
I love this app. I don't like the ads, it drains my battery and they pop up quite a lot. My question...is it a ONE time payment of $3.49 and the ads go away? Or is it monthly? When I get a new phone do I have to purchase it again? I don't want to uninstall it just because of the ads just to save my battery!

Thanks for the feedback Kristine, we appreciate it. FYI Textra Pro is USD3.49 and removes adverts for life, it's a one off payment. Meanwhile, we have added "Manage Ads" option so you can now choose the ad position you prefer. Very good texting app. Looks nice and works great. Only two complaints. Can't add a voice message from within the app without 1st going to your voice recordings and picking it. 2nd issue is you can't add your own background. You only have the choice of solid colors. If these 2 things can be added I will gladly give 5 stars.

1. See Textra Settings - Quick Voice MEMO. 2. Feedback noted FTR. My review has not really changed since last time, except that maybe the only thing missing is RCS support. Previous review : This texting app is fast, simple (but with a lot of features) and beautiful. I really enjoy it so far and it's way better than Hangouts or Google Messenger for texting and MMS.

Million thanks for your support Pierre, enjoy Textra! I loved the app so much that I purchased the ad-free Pro Version. I was using the stock Android messaging app and with the new OS was not able to get the full messages. Installed Textra and that was the cure! Very easy to use and customizable. My advice: Get the Pro Version and unlock the apps FULL potential!!

A very kind review Rickey. Thanks heaps and enjoy Textra. I've been searching for a new texting app for a while and tried a few on my cell without any great success. But then was put onto this one by a friend's son. Have to say I really like it. So much so I upgraded to the paid for version. Lots of custom options means I can easily separate family friends and business texts. Can asign colours to various conversations and best of all its proven to be very stable. No funky errors like I'd seen with other text apps.

Thanks for the kind review John. Best of all the messaging apps by far. Been using on two phones for years and always check to see what the competition offers. Nothing beats Textra. Android Oreo update restricts pop up notifications on locked screen but that is not Textra's fault. Hopefully a new update from Android will allow it again soon.

Thanks for the kind review and comments JD! This is how you make an app. Probably the best app I've ever used. It's simple, configurable, easy to use, and has no unnecessary frills. It does it's job really well. The app is super configurable but the configurations don't get in the way of the core purpose of the app. I'm an app developer and honestly think this is the best app I've ever seen. I even love how they show a 'what's new' message whenever the app is updated that shows exactly what they changed. Simply incredible. Update: I LOVE the new update that lets me configure notification actions on a per conversation basis. The only modification I would add would be to include the ability to set a default set of actions for just non-contact numbers. The reason for this is that a lot of messages I receive like from Google or other services I want to be able to delete from the notification. It's AWESOME that you included setting multiple conversations at once, so this mostly fulfills this feature, but it doesn't get any new services when they come in which I then have to configure those messages to allow deleting as a notification action as well. When I generally don't want this for my own contacts.

Thanks for your kind review Ben! Suggestions? I love the in-app-features, but am having a "can't get mms timeout" feature which doesn't allow me to receive texts when I'm on the phone. The problem is apparently common... Anyone have any ideas? UPDATE: changed the side limit in settings and am now getting messages. Love the app.
Update: found a solution to the bug mentioned in my prior review. Forget what I did but it's Googleable enough. Original review : Loved it except that it ate my messages. It would say "no connection, click to retry" and that'd be the last I heard of it. It wouldn't download and it wouldn't even say who sent it

I so wish you could edit a single contacts names with emojis tho. Another suggestion I have to make this app even better would be to somehow be able to access your messages and be able to text on any device with an account. I would def pay for it!!! Overall this is the best texting app ever! I always try other texting apps but always come back to this one!

I've jumped around (WhatsApp, GO, etc) and Textra is HANDS DOWN the best messaging app I've used. Fluid, logical, and gorgeous; I couldn't ask for much more. Unquestionably worth buying the full app. I've been a long time user and see myself using Textra for a long time to come.

Thanks for the kind review Kyle. Used to work flawlessly. Now most of my picture messages don't go through. Instead, it's "One or more of the message components has been deleted by MMS Adaption" for the other person. I can literally screenshot the image (drastically increasing its size), send it, and the message goes through. Why does the original fail?

Plenty of options. Solved a very pesky problem with text that I sent that were long being broken up for the receiver. Super user interface too.

We'll it just works for me does everything better than the standard msg app. It you can't adjust things the way you want it - what's the point, right - that's why I love this app. As far as space usage I'm not that geeky the phone is blazing fast with or with out the app. 😙

A very kind review James. Thanks heaps and enjoy Textra! Pretty good, it will not allow the custom message tones associated with the contract to work properly. It keeps going back to the default message tone for the device. I use multiple to distinguish work and personal messages. I'd give it 5 starts if this gets fixed.

A pretty big oversight on the developers if you ask me. One of the most used features I'd think. Not sure yet if it's the same for web addresses or not... Would be a perfect replacement sms if it had that. Uninstalling now

Why do you even bother with ideas in the support section if you refuse to listen to the top idea people want which is archives? I think maybe even your other texting app has it as well as templates.

We noted on your feedback with thanks Pono. The dev team is doing their best to add more features. We hope your could reconsider your low rating for Textra. Thank you for your kind understanding. Photos simply do not send using this app. Contacted support, their "fix" didn't work. It's gotten to the point that I have to use the stock app to send photos. Sad, because I absolutely loved this app. Why did I pay for a pro version and the app doesn't even work? Oh well uninstalled.

The only issue I have is that the latest update may have caused some problems for my Android watch. I'm not getting any Textra message notifications even though Bluetooth is connected. It may not be Textra's fault, so I don't blame them. Other than that, this is the #1 texting app I would recommend to anyone with an Android or if you recently switched from iPhone/ Apple.

Thanks for the kind review Michael. A-MA-ZING! beautiful app with capabilities that my default app does not have. I quickly downloaded this in a rush because my friends started a group chat, and my default app would never do groups correctly. little did I know that this app does so much more!
I really like this app and wanted to use it but the standard texting app that came on my Samsung gives me this awesome widget which makes texting several different people throughout the day so easy. Give this app a widget so I can go straight to texting someone and not have to go through the app every time and I'll rate 5 stars.

We noted on your feedback with thanks Anna. Perhaps 4 stars until then as 3 stars kills our rating. I love the customizability of this app, from led colors to emoji styles. Also had a problem with the app and sent in a report, within an hour I had a support person fixing my issue and resolved it. If you have a stock text message app, download this instead. Had to leave message from Google because I was t getting texts and no one would resolve it.

Just one thing I noticed recently - sometimes when I tap the new message notification, it doesn't open up, notification dissappears and that's is. Xperia XZ1 Android O. (and I am not swiping it away by mistake, which is what I thought the first few times)

I'm changing my review because as much as I love the ability to customize this app and it's ease of use, it has a hard time sending/sharing videos within the app. I reached out to customer support and and they were very nice and prompt but they're suggestions didn't work. I've already paid for premium but I don't use this app consistently because of this 1 major issue. I have a brother that lives across country so this is a bit of a deal breaker for me. If this can ever be fixed I'll gladly change my review back to 5 stars.

Recently been having some issues with this app. Sometimes I will go into a message and try to type a reply but nothing I type shows up or gets entered and the notification stays stick at the top even though I've clicked it and read the message. Other times I've tried to call contacts from the app and it won't register that I'm trying to call them. I have to try it at least 4 times before it actually calls them.

✔ NEW FEATURE: Complete flexibility in configuring Notification Buttons as well as Notification Gestures (Tap and Clear). See Settings > Customize Notifications > Define Notification Actions. These are also configurable per conversation as well (long press a conversation, dotdotdot, Customize), so for example, you may configure a DELETE button for certain conversations, like incoming bank messages.
