Old books but other than that it's perfect..!! May be just add rewind and forward options...! Update : Thanks for your response. My apologies but I was referring to the interface on Android Auto as I listen to books while driving. There I couldn't find a way to rewind or forward. Please add that functionality or if I missed it please do let me know how can I do this. Thanks again

Best! Just needs a better interface to move around easily. Edit: current layout is crowded, and navigation is cumbersome. If there were a side panel like what we see in some android apps, for accessing past search or favourite books, it will be perfect.

Just getting started with it, but I would give the content 5 stars at this point. I initially had some clunky issues with the app for some reason, but they were gone after restarting my phone.

There are a few kinks now and again. I prefer the old radio broadcasts like X Minus Zero, Escape, Gunsmoke, and Dragnet. My main complaint is I can't figure out how to download single episodes. There are far too many episodes of Gunsmoke, Dragnet, etc. for me to download them all.
Wonderful app! Unfortunately it is almost impossible to understand a couple of the readers, so I had to skip a few books. It is very enjoyable to have stories read to me, while I am busy doing other things, such as art, or simply relaxing.

Good app. Use friendly and always nice to have a free selection to listen to. A few issues with the app losing my place, and missing some titles I would have expected exist but I can't blame them for that last bit.

Thanks for your email and feedback. I have added your concerns to the technical team's suggestion list of improvements. There are a few kinks now and again. Thanks for your review and feedback. You should be able to download individual chapters/episodes on the "Contents" tab. Press on the title and a window should pop up where you can select "download". Great app for freebaudio books. I paid a small amount to get rid of the ads, which think eas worth the price. App works great, and there are now a lot of good readers, all volunteers. A few not quite so good, and thus not quite a 5 star rating. But all in all, a great app.
I used to love this app but now it doesn't work. I have it on two different phones and on one phone constantly pauses at random intervals and on the other phone the app always closes randomly while im listening and when I reopen it doesn't save my place. So frustrating. Please fix these issues!

Have you selected a data saving or battery saving mode on your device? If so, this may cause the app to skip ahead or pause as it tries to save on energy and limit data usage. Some of the readers are rather bad, but they are all volunteers and the app and most of the content are free. A good way to pass the time until your next audible credit becomes available. Go catch up on some classics!
Stops every 30 min. or so and skips to the next chapter. Real pain to listen to a book. No battery or data save is turned on. Seems to do it instead of running an ad or after an ad runs.

The internal download location will vary somewhat from device to device, but will be something like:
/mnt/sdcard/Android/data/biz.bookdesign.librivox/files/Podcasts. I had given this a 5 star review before. My issue is you used to be able to download the books then listen later without an internet connection. As I drive a truck for a living my cell service during driving us spotty at best. I can no longer listen to downloaded books without an internet connection. Which means the 14 hours I drive a day I can no longer use this app.

Thanks for your review and feedback. We have not done anything to change the offline functionality of the app. Have you selected a storage option under "Download Location" in the app? Do you have enough space on the device? Does the book show it is downloaded? For further troubleshooting help, feel free to email us at [email protected] The app works really well. I love the concept of making legal and free audiobooks. The only problem that working with volunteers can cause bad quality in the recordings. But that is a minor problem considering the circumstances. Great app!
This community has helped me in so many aspects of my life. You guys are really changing lives. Because sometimes when you're knocked down real hard by life, all you need is to read or listen to the work of educated writers and phylosophers to help you back on feet, worked for me. I love you guys! I really do.

I love that they included features like bookmarks, continuous play (even when the phone display times out) and a clean user interface. Thank you librivox! You made it possible for me to review to my assigned reading while driving! This is a great app with free public domain material.

Like no easy way to see percentage of book completed or chapters read. I have experienced if you stop at end of chapter and start from it again it doesn't work. You need to manually click next chapter. I am using Nexus 6P

As for the app not automatically moving to the next chapter, do you have your device in a battery saving or data saving mode? If so that may be the cause of the problem. The autoplay to the next chapter could be set for 7 or 8 seconds, because some readers do the introduction faster then others. I know I can press the -10 seconds button, but then makes no sense the autoplay.
On Android Auto the pause function is very faulty. No fast forward or reward option, chapter starts only. Needs to be improved. Update: I e-mailed the feedback & Support through the app. I have no data saving on or power saving. The book was downloaded to my device and it was plugged in and charging during playback on Android Auto. The Power Button normally doubles as pause button and vice versa during operation. It would not change off the Play option during playback. - Also though the app has jump forward back options, that does not appear in AA.

I find most of the readers are very good and I haven't had any that I couldn't understand. This is a wonderful organization and worthy of support. I'm not really sure what kind of support . If you love books this may be perfect for you give it a whirl nothing to lose.

I enjoy listening to the great selection of books. there's 2 problems I have found, firstly It would have been great if you could download some the stories for listening to off line, secondly (& the major problem), is that sometimes the book I'm trying to listen to decides it either doesn't want to load or play, especially when I'm trying to listen to it on the bus when traveling to & from work, using the buses wifi & 1/2 times at home. Can you please add a option to change the speed, has I listening to one book, it's all read by the same person & she softly spoken and seems to speak very quickly so I am having trouble following the story & I don't think there's another version of this book.

Thanks for your review and feedback. The app can download books. Select a storage location under settings. While in a book, look for the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner. Push on it and a new window will pop up. Select "Download". I have added your request for variable speed playback to the technical team's suggestion list of improvements. Or did you put your device into a battery saving or data saving mode recently? You can acess librivox entirely from a browser but I do like the convenience of this app. Top marks..no adverts yet haha.. top app. . Type a genre and your away
Its annoying that most of the storys keep swapping narrators. Bit generally a good app for a freebie

Thanks for your review and feedback. We are able to offer our content for free because it is read by volunteers. Thus, the quality of the recordings vary. The app has a rating feature if you want to leave comments on a recording. Not all readers are easy to understand, i.e. heavy Eastern European accent. But hey, it is free which is great.
It would be 5 stars if it wasnt for the the lady with below average reading capabilities and Chinese accent in some in some chapters. It makes it hard to listen and follow.

The app has a rating feature which allows the user to leave a review/comments on recordings. You should make the warriors books free... They are my favorite books, but I want to hear them and I really don't want to spend $30.00 on ONE book

Thanks for your review and feedback. It would be illegal to give away books for free that are still protected by copyright laws and recorded by paid readers. All of our free content are books in the public domain and are recorded by volunteers. I really love the fact that audio plays well with others. (doesn't crash when opening other apps/games/ect.) I kinda wish there was a website so I could use on my PC and review though. Has lots of otr shows and audio books.

Also thousands of classics which I love. A thousand times better than listening to the same predictable news cycles over and over.

I like this app. The selection is pretty good and it had some nice features, however the volume inconsistency is my reason to not give it give the app 5 starts. I have to play on max volume an can still hardly hear some of the readers.

Audio books pause themselves randomly. My phone calls don't connect when playing. I have to see the incoming call icon and close the app to answer.
Sleep timer does not work. Paid for no ads version but still seeing ads.

Assuming you upgraded within the free version of the app, all you should have to do is restart your device and the ads will disappear.
What specifically about the sleep timer does not work? The selection of books (both free and paid) is good. The dialogue quality for the free books averages from decent to very good. I commend the volunteers who have given their time and effort to bring back "story time" to the world. 📑☺👍
FREE BOOKS! There are some real classics on this app, and some forgotten gems. I love the audio selection. The readers are all volunteers, and all Libra Vox recordings are in the public domain. Some of the readers are great voice actors too.

Thanks for your review and feedback. Our books are recorded by volunteers so the quality varies. Our app does have a rating feature, so you can leave a review of the recording. So far so good. Paid to remove ads, some real gems on here books wise. The app is feature rich with a big catalog of categories, can download which is great. The linking for readers too is clever.
