Overview of Competitive Grant Program

Competitive grant programs are a type of IIR which many teams choose to initiate in addition to or in place of their standard IIR program. Competitive programs typically have a defined set of research criteria, which are broadly publicized to an appropriate investigator group through one of several possible routes (i.e. journal advertisements, program websites, flyer distribution). There is a defined application window and specific document requirements which are defined by each program. Once submitted, all applications are reviewed by an external review panel of experts, who select the best research for funding.

GRAND 2017 The overall mission of the GRAND program is to advance the pharmacological treatment of tobacco and nicotine dependence. Deadline July 3, 2017.

2017 ASPIRE Gene Therapy for Hemophilia The 2017 ASPIRE Gene Therapy in Hemophilia Research Awards Program is designed to support laboratory and clinical research in pathogenesis, complications, management, and clinical outcomes of gene therapy for hemophilia. Deadline May 22, 2017

2017 Global ASPIRE Transthyretin (TTR) Amyloidosis Awards for Junior Investigators The mission of the program is To support specific research in basic science and broad clinical research through a competitive grants program that advances medical knowledge in the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of TTR amyloidosis. In-scope research submissions along the entire clinical spectrum of TTR amyloidosis (from TTR familial amyloid polyneuropathy (TTR-FAP) to TTR cardiomyopathy) and including mixed phenotypes are highly encouraged. 2017 Global ASPIRE Young Investigator Research Awards in Endocrinology The mission of the 2017 Global ASPIRE Young Investigator Research Awards in Endocrinology is to advance the medical knowledge of the fundamental mechanisms of disease, mechanisms of action of current and potential future treatments, and to improve the care of patients with endocrine disorders. 2017 ASPIRE Regional Inflammation The mission of the Inflammation ASPIRE 2017 Research Awards is to support clinical research in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and basic and translational research in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) through a competitive grants program that advances medical knowledge in understanding the role of the Janus Kinase (JAK)–Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription (STAT) pathways in Immune Mediated Inflammatory Diseases (IMID).
