PelMel Patterns

I’m aiming to record some of my patterns here. There’s a heck of a backlog so it could take some time. Should I jump on the bandwagon and give these babies names – Annabelle, Sophia, Titania, Bea, Maude, Sandrine, Caterina, Kellie, Ursula, Noreen, Felicity ?  No, strike out in new waters – Tia Maria, Kahlua, Cointreau, Creme de Menthe, Angostura, Amarula, Tequila. Cheers!

Shift dress with Fluted Sleeves which had an overshirt incarnation too . (Meet Ratafia a drink but also appropriately enough for a dress with room, a biscuit)

Features:- A line shape, top stitched slits at hemline in the side seams, shallow and wide Vee neckline front and back, faced slit opening at the front fastened with a rouleau loop and button, the facing is deep enough to allow the neckline to be worn unbuttoned and turned back, double fluted belled sleeves overlapping at sleeve head and open. Overshirt has band opening.

Fabrics:- Sewn in fine crepe and a silky rayon. I think it would be nice in a light habotai, dip dyed, with the sleeves cut as a double layer sewn together only in the armscye, and the body either in a heavier silk or a double layer of the lighter silk. Another idea (mrs mole’s!) black lace – obviously line the dress part.

Sizes:- So far drafted in 36″bust D cup

 Sundress with Hearts (I name you Ke Ke )

Features:- Dress bodice has twenty panels which release into soft pleats. Contrast shaped top band and deep hem band, contrast shoulder straps. Appliqué hearts decorate. Optional belt.

Fabrics:- Sewn in a pink cotton with a woven floral motif and a white lightweight cotton piqué.

Long Sleeved Tee (Bellota – faintly nutty according to Difford’s Guide)

Features:- High hip length Tee shaped at the waist in the side seams includes bust shaping and set in sleeves narrowing to the wrist, contrast shaped neck band and contrast band set in one side at front and back, small dart and three small tucks from front band provide shaping.

Fabrics:- Sewn in black and light green cotton stretch jersey. Intended for medium stretch light to medium weight jersey fabrics with recovery.

Sizes:- drafted in 10 – 16

Skirt with Scalloped Overskirt (Ouzo, three glasses and you can straighten those scallops like a pro)

Features:- A line skirt has contrast overskirt with asymmetric hemline in large scallops, invisible side zip, rouleau bow .

Fabrics:- Sewn in white woven rayon and black silk duppion. Would work in any firm plain weave fabrics.

Pencil Skirt with Italian Pockets (Dimmi –  for her pockets obviously)

Features:- pencil skirt with waistband and back zip, side pockets and kick pleat top stitched.

Fabrics:- sewn in black cotton drill, would work in any firm woven fabric

8 Gore Maxi Skirt ( Ogidiga – a cure for all ills )

Features:- 8 panels shaped to waist and flared out from just below the knee, side zip.

Fabrics:- Sewn in lightweight Indian Cotton. Would work in any light to medium weight plain weave fabric.

Sundress with Asymmetric Tie Fastening (Amarula)

Features:- A line dress with wide top band which ties on one shoulder and small darts from the band to provide bust shaping. Also made as top with second shoulder strap.

Fabrics:- Sewn in lined printed rayon chiffon with contrast band in black cotton.

Batwing Blouse with Leaves  (Galliano)

Features:- scoop neck blouse with batwing sleeves finishing in a long fitted cuff, has centre front detail of decorative leaves gradated by size in a tie shape, seeded with pearls.

Fabrics:- made in a linen look polyester gauzy fabric

Sizes 10-18   Difficulty ** Satisfaction **

 

Shorts Style Knickers (Sambuca!)

Features:- Wide yoke band from waist to high hip, short style, inner gusset. No side seam.

Materials:- Sewn in cotton elastane jersey of medium stretch and good recovery.

Sizes continental 34-44 Difficulty (too easy to merit a star) Satisfaction ***

Shirt Style Blouse (Kùmmel)

Features:- princess seams, fitted sleeves ending in slit opening fastening with rouleau loop (version with sleeves gathered into cuff), revers turn back from rouleau loop fastening above keyhole, or can be worn open to button front.

Fabrics:- sewn in blouse weight crepe and printed vyella, suitable for any blouse weight woven.

Jacket with Shawl Collar ( Crème de Menthe )

Features:- Grown on shawl collar, front has bust darts in underarm position and four waist darts, back has shaped centre back seam and two waist darts, hem is shaped and faced, set in sleeves scrunch at cuff end with rouleau threaded through vertical channels, fastens edge to edge with rouleau loops.

Fabrics:- sewn in rayon velvet, would work in any soft jacketing weight woven

Cowl Blouse (Chambord – a sweet fusion )

Features:- Bias cut blouse with cowl neckline. Sleeve variations – gently flared below elbow, sleeveless, straight set in sleeve narrowed to cuff, sleeve with ruching .Fabrics:- sewn in various blouse weight silks and rayons, a fine mesh poly fabric (lined) and jersey fabrics (cut on straight grain – the narrow set in sleeve and the ruched sleeve were in jersey)

Kimono Cut Casual Bolero (Pochteca – goes down easily)

Features :- kimono cut sleeves, shaped hem, wide band at neckline and hem, cuffs.

Fabrics:- sewn in jersey fabric with medium stretch

Kimono Cut Blouse with Peplum (Kahlua)

Features:- wide yoke, deep kimono sleeve, waist darts, peplum, turn back collar, buttons, wear loose or with purchased belt

Fabrics:- Sewn in printed man-made chiffon with contrast jersey collar . Would work with any blouse weight woven

Cigarette Trousers with side zip (Yukon Jack)

Features:- slim fit narrow trousers with invisible side zip,shaped yoke and no pockets giving smooth shape under fitted tops, faced back at fitted waist.

Fabrics:- sewn in cotton elastane, good in any trouser weight woven with some stretch.

Straight Trousers with Italian Pockets (Pama)

Features:- straight leg trousers with centre front opening and shaped waistband and italian pockets.

Fabrics:- sewn in many different plain weave wovens

 

 

 

 

Skirt with Drapes (Tia Maria)

Features:- developed from Pattern Magic Stingray construction, maxi skirt with drapes at hipline, wide waistband which ties either side to provide fastening.

 

Fabrics:- sewn in printed jersey, waistband in solid cotton woven.

 

 

 

Shaped Tee (Lakka)

Features:- shaped Tee shirt has half yoke and darts, soft pleats set in yoke,grown on cap sleeves.

Fabrics:- sewn in a striped cotton jersey

 

 

 

 

Tee with Appliqué (Rosolio)

Features:- Shaping created with crossing darts and twisted side seam, fluted narrow frill defines side seam twist and edges grown on cap sleeve, contrast binding and appliqués.

Fabrics:- sewn in cotton elastane jerseys

 

 

 

 

Mauve and Cream Office Shift (Crème de Cassis)

Features:- dress with waist seam and contrast yoke with neckline detail, inserted band at hem.

Fabrics:- Sewn in twill suiting and satin

Sizes:- made in 40 DD cup

 

 

 

Wrap Dress in African Cotton (Chartreuse)

Features:- Wrap over sleeveless dress with flared skirt, trimmed with contrast binding.

Fabrics:- sewn in an African cotton Batik

 

 

 

 

 

Swingy Skirt (Amaro )

Features:- Deep asymmetric yoke angled from high hip to just below true hip line, skirt flares below this. Side zip.

Fabrics:- Sewn in printed linen and also in silk duppion. Would work in any skirt weight firm weave fabric.

Bias Maxi with Buttoned Godet (Razzmatazz)

Features:- Lined maxi skirt is cut on the bias, has diagonal yoke and godet at one side which buttons with rouleau loops .

Fabrics:- red duppion

 

 

 

 

 

Linen Suit (Sabra)

Features:- pencil skirt and jacket with grown on collar, shoulder princess seams and pockets

Fabric:- sewn in a lightweight linen look fabric

 

 

 

 

Wool Crepe Suit (Kamora)

Features:- Pencil skirt, jacket has stand collar, lapels, welt pockets, princess seams

Fabric:- Sewn in maroon wool crepe with velvet trim.

 

 

 

 

 

Shift with Neckline Inset (Mokatika)

Features :- Shift dress with darts, neckline has contrast inset

Fabrics:- Wool twill and satin

 

 

 

 

Jersey Maxi (Sabroso)

Features:- Maxi skirt with side slit and wide doubled band at waist

Fabric:- sewn in printed jersey with contrast jersey waistband

Features:- Shift dress with pattern of triangles cut out at neckline, faced

Fabric:- Slub silk and cotton mix

 

 

 

Shift with Curved Neckline (Coloma)

Features:- Shift dress with darting, neckline shaped in opposing curves

Fabric:- Sewn in lightweight wool suiting

 

 

 

 

Shift with Contrast Trim (Vok)

Features:- Shift with asymmetric neckline and contrast trim, contrast trim at hem

Fabric:- Sewn in black lightweight suiting with gunmetal satin trim

 

 

 

Shift with Scallop Neckline (Merlyn)

Features:- shift dress with asymmetric scallop detail at neckline with darts
