Trump’s Cabinet of Peers

When Trump first started naming his cabinet picks, there was a lot of noise from both sides complaining about some of his choices. The liberal mainstream media, who clearly don’t like Trump, was obviously trying to cause dissension in the ranks of Trump supporters by declaring certain of his nominees a betrayal of his campaign promises and his base (Puzder, Mnuchin, Priebus). This was transparently disingenuous. Do they really expect me to believe that they wouldn’t be perfectly happy for Trump to betray his base? Simultaneously, and contradictorily, they attempted to outrage Trump’s enemies by declaring others of his picks as outside the pale (Bannon, Tillerson) and confirmation of their worst fears about Trump. So which was I supposed to believe, that Trump is actually a phony and a tool of the Establishment or that he is a rogue actor who is appointing fellow rogues in an all-out effort to subvert all that is good and true? It really can’t be both.

At the same time some Trump supporters and conservative Trump critics were quick to voice their displeasure at some of Trump’s picks, especially Labor Secretary select Andrew Puzder who has supported liberal immigration policies in the past, Treasury Secretary select Steven Mnuchin who was formerly in the employ of the hated Goldman Sachs and Chief of Staff select Reince Priebus of the distrusted RNC. While I wasn’t pleased with the selection of Puzder and Munchin and as a non-interventionist was not crazy about some of his defense and foreign policy related picks and potential picks (especially John Bolton and Mitt Romney), I counseled my fellow Trump supporters to hold their fire a bit because I believed that some Trump supporters were taking the bait of the liberal media who were deliberately trying to sow discord.

Up Next … The Supreme Court Can Stop Trump

Some on the anti-Trump left have lost their ever lovin’ minds. They have been reduced to promoting farfetched scenarios that aren’t even remotely credible or realistic, scenarios that if conservatives were touting them in reaction to a Hillary victory these same people would be rightly scoffing at.

Now that their always absurd Electoral College coup strategy has failed miserably as all reasonable and informed people knew it would, the latest scenario seems to be that the Supreme Court can save us from Trump. Yeah, whatever.

Trolling Doug Wilson

Doug Wilson casts himself as a man standing on the authority of scripture, battling mightily against wrong-headed bible teachers who have wandered to the right and to the left.  Wilson is a verbally-gifted writer and has demonstrated a willingness to pen controversial material, often challenging the dominant socio-political narratives of Neo-Calvinists and conservative Evangelicals.  In a landscape filled with pastors lacking in backbone, Wilson often writes with verve.  Nevertheless, when discussing ethnicity and race Wilson frequently misrepresents his opponents, relies upon logical fallacies, and peddles Gnostic arguments.  It is a curious form of triangulation that could be termed Clintonian. Hollywood Liberals, Would You Please Shut Up!

“Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners. And if we kick them all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and Mixed Martial Arts, which are not the arts,” ~ Meryl Streep

Is this supposed to be a bad thing? Please, please don’t throw me into that briar patch.

Look, I love movies and TV probably more than most. Movies and certain TV series are a favorite pastime of mine, but I would gladly give them up and watch nothing but sports or read a book in exchange for getting rid of all these liberal Hollywood blowhards and the nefarious influence they and the bilge they produce have on our culture. A generation of young men raised on a steady diet of football and mixed martial arts instead of the PC indoctrination masquerading as entertainment that Hollywood deliberately pumps out might be just what this country needs.

Introducing the Federalist Party

This email was forwarded to me by a friend. I am not yet on their email list. It is republished here with permission.

I am personally skeptical of efforts to create a new conservative party, despite my sympathy for third parties in general, for reasons that would require their own article to explain. But I’ll post this here for informational purposes so we can keep our readers abreast of what is happening in the dissident conservative sphere.

The Federalist Party in 2017

This new year has brought about a combination of hope and fear in America. As Federalists, we share both perspectives. There is hope in hearing about a few plans to reduce government power, but there is also concern that these reductions will be mere tokens compared to the planned perpetuation of government overreach as well as increases in the federal budget.

Anti-Trump Hysterics Hack Their Credibility

The memo obviously went out among the sources of Elite opinion that they should accuse the Russians of “hacking” the election. The coordination of the message, and the message rather than the news is exactly what it is, cannot be chalked up to coincidence. This word was deliberately chosen to mislead. The use of the word “hacking” suggests that the Russians hacked into voting machines and added votes to Trump or something of that nature, but that is not what is being alleged even by the most unhinged. What is being alleged, even if entirely true, is that Russia attempted to “influence” the election.

One of the alleged means by which Russia attempted to influence the election was by hacking the DNC emails and turning them over to Wikileaks to release. This is superficially plausible, but the much more likely explanation that is shaping up is that the DNC emails were actually leaked by an insider with access rather than hacked by a foreign government. Julian Assange has confirmed this himself. But even if true, this would mean that Russia hacked the DNC’s emails, not that they “hacked” the election.

Trump Plus Russia Equals Double the Crazy

Donald Trump makes some otherwise reasonable people crazy. Russia and Putin make some otherwise reasonable people crazy. Combine the two and for some people it’s double the crazy.

Ever since the fakenews story about the alleged Russian “hack” of our election broke, certain commentators have totally gone off the deep end. The combination of their antipathy for Trump and their antipathy for Russia and Putin is apparently too much for them to handle and has driven them to madness as demonstrated by their Twitter feeds and other ravings.

Take for example former independent NeverTrump Presidential candidate Evan McMullin. His entire campaign was based on grandstanding about alleged conservative “values” and “principles” and PC preening that could compete with the best efforts of Salon and Slate. Unfortunately, he overlooked that fundamental conservative value and principle of not turning our country permanently Blue through immigration, likely because it conflicted with the latter PC preening. McMullin’s conservatism by incantation was never taken seriously outside the ideologically brain addled confines of the movement conservative bubble, but this fakenews Russian ‘hacking” business has turned him into even more of an unserious sideshow, which is no mean feat. Read his Twitter feed. His obsessive invocations of the alleged Russia menace read like a McCarthy era Cold Warrior on speed.
