Nicolausi (St Nicholas) 2015

(Australia, December 6, 2015)

This year was a special St Nicholas: in addition to the traditional chocolates, Linnea got a new gaming computer (I thought it would be easier if she got it before Christmas, because setting it up during the holidays would have been complicated.) Xsenia got a small present too.

Xsenia’s new favorite game. We’ve had it for years, but only started playing it a few days ago.

Late afternoon in Newport and Bilgola beach

Tobias came home in the afternoon from a triathlon and we drove to Newport.

There was a market in the park by the beach, so we took a stroll around the stalls.

Then we took a walk in the nature reserve going to Bilgola beach.

Xsenia found a pretty butterfly (it was dead, unfortunately.)

We looked at the wild flowers, and tried to identify some birds with our new Field Guide to the Birds of Australia .

We saw this flower, read the plaque, and talked about it for a bit, wondering how this man died, and why they had put a plaque there.

There was a huge spider on that brown-orange rock, which we think was a huntsman spider, but we stayed far away just in case.
