Welcome to Oboedire—a family of ministries created to encourage attentive spiritual formation in the Christian tradition. The word “oboedire” is a Latin word which means to listen with the intention of putting into practice what is heard. It’s the word from which we derive the English word, “obedience.” It’s what Eugene Peterson and others today are calling “lived theology.” Oboedire seeks to do this through these means….
(1) The Oboedire Blog is the core ministry, featuring a variety of thematic and miscellandous posts related to Christian spiritual formation. Some posts appear on an announced schedule; others on an occasional basis. All posts are archived and available for viewing on the righthand sidebar. (See “The Oboedire Blog” icon for more info)
(2) Oboedire “Explorations” Series is a resource for individuals, and small groups, to use in the cultivation of Christian spiritual formation. The first volume, Living in Love: The Essence of the Christian Life, is available. (See the “Oboedire Explorations Series” icon for more info)
(3) Oboedire “Live.” Steve accepts a few on-site ministries each year. These are usually Sunday preaching engagements, conferences, workshops, and retreats. Click on to the “Ministry Schedule” icon to see upcoming events and to pray for God to bless them. To inquire about Steve’s availability, email him at [email protected].
Wow… putting into practice what we consume mentally… what a concept… I should probably be intentional about that, before I grind myself down any further. HAH. Steve! I cannot tell you how many times I have quoted you (about the balance of head and heart, worship being the central act of God’s people, etc.) May God’s ministry continue through you, now that your schedule is a bit.. um.. different! Big hugs. EJK Asbury 2002-2007
Steve: I thoroughly enjoyed your article “Courage to Keep On Praying” in the March / April 2013 edition of “The Upper Room.” I found it very inspiring and challenging.
