Initial consultation & diagnosis

An individual or a physician can call to make an appointment for an initial pain management consultation. Before the consultation, someone from our Pain Management Department will call you to ask preliminary questions about your pain. If available before the visit, we’ll obtain copies of your medical records.

Your comprehensive evaluation will be performed by an anesthesiologist who specializes in the treatment of pain disorders. The evaluation process usually includes a detailed medical history and physical examination. It may be necessary to run diagnostic tests, including neurological, laboratory, radiological, physiological and behavioral assessment examinations.

Treatment

After discussing your diagnosis, our physician will discuss treatment options and develop your individualized plan. The referring physician will be informed of your progress once treatment begins.

Follow-up care

Together, you and the pain management team will evaluate the success of your treatment. Modifications to the treatment plan will be made if necessary.

Once you’ve completed your treatment program, you will be returned to the care of your referring or primary care physician.
