“The first casualty when war comes is truth.”–Attributed to Hiram W Johnson, US Senator for California (1917 – 1945)

The New Cold War: Ukraine and beyond (New Cold War.org) aims to provide accurate factual information about the Ukraine conflict and its rapidly-widening consequences. A non-profit source of public information, we are a network of correspondents independent of all states and associated propaganda machines. We will carry reports from sources on the ground and from informed contributors about what is happening in Ukraine and related conflicts, their causes, and their background.
The editorial team of New Cold War.org consists of writers and editors in four Canadian cities–Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver; Ukraine; Crimea; Moscow; and Adelaide, Australia. The editor-in-chief is Roger Annis, in Canada.
‘Independent’ does not mean non-partisan. You can find a statement of our broad views in the antiwar declaration approved at a conference in Yalta, Crimea approved on 7 July 2014 at a meeting of activists from Ukraine, Europe, Russia and North America. We believe great injustices are being committed by the government installed in Kiev in February against the whole Ukrainian people. We do not maintain that these are the only wrongs being committed. But the sharp turn by the new government towards an austerity economic agreement with the European Union as well as the war Kiev has been waging in southeast Ukraine to impose its economic and political will are the prime source of the political and humanitarian crisis.
In the fight against injustice, truth is the greatest weapon. We will make available the widest possible range of relevant information, scrutinize both our own sources and what appears in the media according to high journalistic standards, and provide everything possible to help our readers make informed judgements
We are open to reports from all sources, provided that they are relevant and contain verifiable factual claims, not unsupported opinion. To send reports, questions, or comments, write to [email protected]. If you would like to contribute to our blog or become a regular author, please contact our editorial team. We do not accept anonymous registration and will verify your contact information; however, your details will not be made available to anybody except the editors without your permission.

New website of Ukraine information and analysis is launched
November 26, 2014
Dear reader,
Following several months of preparatory work, a new website providing information and analysis of the war and political crisis in Ukraine is now online. The website is titled The New Cold War: Ukraine and beyond (New Cold War.org). You can read it, subscribe to it and like it on Facebook at this weblink.
The New Cold War: Ukraine and beyond is a project of the international delegates who attended the antiwar, anti-fascist conference that took place in Yalta, Crimea on July 6 and 7, 2014. That conference adopted an antiwar declaration that serves as a guide to the information assembled and presented on the new website.
The website already contains a vast storehouse of information and analysis. The content is expanding daily. One feature designed to assist readers is ‘Editors’ picks’, a selection by our editors of the items posted to the website that are varied and that we consider particularly informative.
The information on the website is sorted by category for ease of access. There are 14 subject categories—from the obvious—‘Ukraine’, ‘Russia’, ‘News’, and’ Analysis’—to ‘Eastern Europe and Caucasus,’ and ‘Malaysian Airlines Crash’.
From the ‘About us’ section of the website:
We are open to reports from all sources, provided that they are relevant and contain verifiable factual claims, not unsupported opinion. To send reports, questions, or comments write to [email protected]. If you would like to contribute to our blog or become a regular author, please contact our editorial team.
Please inform your friends and associates of this new website. Please like us on Facebook. You can sign up to receive website postings by daily e-mail.
