I am looking for sources on the general knowledge of Medieval dress codes imposed on Jews in 1930's Germany. We know that the Nazi's clearly knew of the yellow badge, but was this historic use common knowledge to the Jewish population? And, more specifically, was the Medieval yellow Jewish hat, or the Judenhut, something an average German Jew might have known of even if not a scholar? Thank you.
