Our bell ringers are ringing a quarter peal to mark 100 years since the Abbey bells were restored following the Armistice. King George V and Queen Mary visited the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in June 1919 to see the bells being cast. More about the bells:

Probably the oldest stuffed parrot in extistence is that of Frances Teresa Stuart, Duchess of Richmond, maid of honour to Catherine, queen of Charles II. The parrot is an African grey said to have lived with the Duchess for 40 years. It died soon after she did.
