as someone who’s been on a diet since I was 11 years old (maybe younger?), I really appreciate this piece from @amandamull on the harmful health effects of dieting & diet culture, and some of the alternatives that are starting to emerge theatlantic.com/health/archive…

The hacks market for Amazon is saturated; lots of sites/newsletters to find out how to optimize your AWS use, boost your seller ratings, get better reviews for your self-published fiction, and buy the best stuff at the best prices. Just little about the company as such.

I didn't go this way with my Amazon newsletter, but if you combined this with a Lifehacker-style "Amtrak hacks" tips beat? <mwafingers> I bet folks would eat that UP

...and if you want to get a sense of just how long Mickey Mouse's, uh, tail is...think about why is is that *Mario* wears white gloves. (American animation — and Disney, *especially* — influenced Japanese animation conventions.)

Does anyone write a newsletter about Amtrak, along the lines of @tcarmody and Amazon amazonchronicles.substack.com or @A_W_Gordon and Signal Problems signalproblems.substack.com
I want to read about Amtrak

There were four of us kids, so we did a lot of splitting. The one that was the most constant was in the morning, she'd make two pieces of toast, then cut them both in half, so we each got a half a piece of toast for breakfast. (Nobody had to wait for toast.)

My mom worked a lot of jobs, but 7-11 was the first I remember and shaped a lot of my early childhood. When you find out 1) your mom has all the candy in the world, but then 2) you can't have any of it, because you're poor, that has an effect on you.
