Here is another in the category of what I'd call a "relaxing" policy debate -- whether to teach cursive writing. (Relaxing = its not like there are families being separated or sick people losing health insurance)

There's more than one type of prosecutorial misconduct. At the Florida School for boys, 27 new possible graves were found last month -- yet Florida prosectors have yet to file a single charge or even open an investigation newyorker.com/news/news-desk…

My preferred title was "How capitalism turned on privacy" ... but "betrayed" is one word and "forsook" was a little bit medieval even if actually it had the right meaning nytimes.com/2019/04/10/opi…

And also not old! When I was younger, I was jealous of my republican friends of the same age. In the DC Dem scene, everyone always wants their old jobs back

You write 800 or 1500 words on a massive, book-length topic (say, capitalism & privacy) and inevitably some reader writes to say "You failed to discuss ... " nytimes.com/2019/04/10/opi…

The stats (growth, new jobs / quarter see attached) suggest that the economy under Trump is performing about the same as under Obama (post-2011). But Trump sure sells it an awful lot better --- pic.twitter.com/3l8GBwBqGa

Imagine if privacy options were presented this way (take the test), instead of a lengthy, fine-print "take it or leave it" kind of thing, which you consent to by continuing to use the software... nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Try this "where would you draw the line" test in the New York Times. Incredible results -- suggests to me that if the options were ever actually presented this way to users in an opt-in way, the consent-driven model would actually work ..... nytimes.com/interactive/20…

"Terry McAuliffe leaning toward jumping into 2020 race" I am still trying to understand why this year is so different than 2016... Is it really all about Hillary Clinton ? Or just that everyone thinks there is nothing to lose ? cnn.com/2019/03/27/pol…

My argument, to be clear, is that there was an increase in the profitability of surveillance. Not the invention of collecting consumer data. Perhaps read my book if you have time.

I need a political scientist or other expert to understand why there are 18+ Dem candidates in 2020 but only 3 in 2016. And "Hilary Clinton" is not a good enough answer -- she had been beaten in a primary before, and was obviously beatable. Is there no downside this time?

Fair enough, but you still have the question of whether investigating an active Presidential political campaign is a good idea, and I think Comey's judgement was highly questionable in that respect
