EXCELLENT question! I’m glad you asked. This is where #TraditionalKnowledge comes in. Human relationships with #biodiversity have a wide range of forms and ethnic use of fungi for eating is one example. In three years of monitoring, we had found only one individual in this area, and now we know there are more, and that young adults are appearing. We had lost hope because the vegetation at the edge of the river was cut down at the beginning of the year...

This gougeous young #Plectrohyla guatemalensis 😭😻🐸💚 This is a major reason for us to celebrate! Our monitoring is focused directly to this species. It is critically endangered in the @IUCNRedList and is quite an uncommon find outside protected areas near the city. pic.twitter.com/fzBDLlh28I
