NEW: Joe Biden just revealed (maybe accidentally?) that he's raised $19.8 million for his 2020 run. He said at his fundraiser tonight in New York that he had 360,000 donors with an average contribution of $55, per pool report. If he's right, the math = $19.8 million.

At least one candidate has a plan for dealing parenting challenges on the 2020 trail. “We should pool together for child care,” joked . “Whoever comes up with the child-care option for the debate nights in Miami, we would pay anything to have that problem solved.”

Also, worth nothing: is the only woman to run for a major party’s presidential nomination with school-age children at home, a fact that reflects the reality that women have typically entered politics at a later age than men.

It's a shift that reflects changing American expectations around what, exactly, makes a good dad. While female candidates still confront a steeper double standard, male politicians with young children suddenly find themselves facing something totally new — a standard.
