Unpopular (?) opinion: PhD comps exams don’t prepare, nor test, u 4 any applicable skill. When else will I read 200 books, write 30 pgs, and talk to 3 ppl about all that knowledge for 2 hours?! Maybe sr. academics know something I don’t, but this whole process seems arbitrary.
