I don't care what he says. I care a lot about the lousy news judgement by broadcast and cable news outlets in giving all this exposure to someone who otherwise would have about the same chance as Vermin Supreme.

Since I'm in the periodic friendly reminder mood again today, know that this (delaying nomination votes by a week) is standard practice for the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Although even with that a Dem candidate should probably say the first-day agenda is ripping up a bunch of Trump exec actions.

Saying the first thing you would do as president is to pass a bill is...not quite correct (although signaling priorities is fine in this context).

Which is a problem for the party (in addition to the country). We should have a debate around what a progressive foreign policy is, not just what it isn’t.

Amazing that Dems can *legitimately* duck virtually every tough foreign policy question this cycle by (as Harris is mostly doing) saying that the president should read briefing papers and consult experts.

Harris seems on the surface to be pretty up on policy, but I'm not sure if she understands the vital importance of walls and wheels and what fundamental inventions they are.

Just observing, not judging.

Iowa Dem audience (on CNN) seems a lot more energetic for Trump-bashing than for any policy stuff Harris has.

Harris's response to liberals on criminal justice reform is most definitely (lots of) prose, not poetry. No idea how it sounds to those who care about it and are worried about her, but she certainly is ready to go on it.

We *really* need to see if Schultz does as well as in 3rd party ballot tests.

What said. Odds are *very* good that Dem party actors will get a nominee acceptable to them (and to most Dem voters).

So I'm with (I think?) on this: Better to just not, at least until there's some reason to think Schultz is anything more than, say, Vermin Supreme.

The one thing Schultz does have going for him is that a lot of media folks are extremely impressed with very rich people, which does have a bit of self-fulfillment in it (the $$$ doesn't make a candidate viable, but media slobbering over them can help).

On the politics point....it is a good cycle for a relatively strong 3rd party candidate. However (1) there's a long, long way from Anderson-type numbers or even Perot to actually winning, and (2) it's hard to see what Schultz has going for him that would get him to that level.
