I think a good tip for this is to spend a bit more time thinking about what you want your data to look like in the end. When I have a clear picture that R is often easier, when I'm kind of working and figuring at the same time, I (still) sometimes use Excel.

Turns out there are a lot of alternatives to the Baby Motzart series! Baby Steve Reich is my favourite so far, but I could see Baby Melvins nurturing interesting children.

- When it comes time to compile the books, switch to a branch, render the book, then switch to the next branch. You could have a script which checks that the commits on the branch, match the original before rendering.

More explication of the branch idea:
- Make a branch for each version with git -branch Spanish
- Commit to the original language branch
- Make a commit with the same name to the Spanish branch translating those changes
- Check that the two branches have the same commit names...

I really recommend using a git client like GitKraken. After like a year of struggling to learn command-line git I just said "why am I doing this? I deserve to be happy"
