Today, however, North Korea and Vietnam appear to want to put those historic differences aside. The US is eager to portray summit host Vietnam as an example of a communist nation with a thriving free-market economy that Pyongyang could replicate

Cambodia's information minister posted the following on his Facebook and asked, "If there were a lot these, which noodle would I eat?" The words in bottom-right are "black noodle". It's a Khmer pun on the word "mee" which means noodle and also offensive way to refer to a woman.

Writing a story on this. Cambodia's unlikely to charge same tax rate as Macau when new law passes this year, but even a 10% tax on GGR would have raised $140 million from NagaWorld, roughly a third of what the government plans to spend on health care services this year.

1. Sources in EU tell me that latest stoppage in EVFTA negotiations are about extracting more political reforms from Hanoi...also, forming independent trade unions are political rights, not just labour rights.

But the CPP government today faces a novel problem. While it was a low-cost, export-driven economy that gave the party so much legitimacy, the same export-driven economy is now its Achilles heel.

Granted, but KS's position isn't also helped by almost 18 months of pre-trial detention, and now house arrest that means his trial doesn't have to take place according to normal legal time-limits. I'd argue that puts KS in a more fraught position than EU trade negotiations.
