“Returning citizens” was the language Florida Amendment Four came up with in 2018. Andrew Gillum used it when I talked to him last week. It was messaging that helped pass the amendment even while Gillum was losing.

But anyway. Broad (no pun intended) point: having talked to gajillions of voters ahead of 2018 about gender, and now starting to do it now, I'm truly struck by the flip from "YES LET'S ELECT WOMEN" to "maybe a woman isn't electable." Which i NEVER HEARD IN 2018.

This reminds me: In 1998, Clinton was term-limited and Rs were bringing him to the table on Social Security privatization.
Then they set themselves on fire for impeachment and Clinton pulled back to shore up Democratic support.
