2000 African Americans were part of the D Day landings but were never acknowledged. They could fight, bleed & die for the US flag but for the next 4 decades were denied basic human rights simply because of the colour of their skin.

On 75th anniversary of WWII #DD75 it's worth remembering that 5 million black/brown citizens of the British empire fought for the 'motherland' including 2 million from S Asia. Plus 1 million African Americans. They faced racism, segregation & were denied democratic rights.
