i mean. cool? but the same way you speak for yourself, i can’t speak for anyone else other than myself. if it isn’t an issue for you, ok. people are allowed to express their discomfort/disappointment just as you’re allowed to not see it as an issue.

i think it’s also hard for people to hear critique of someone/something they like. but it’s ok! critique doesn’t have to change your enjoyment of that thing/person unless you want it to. you get decide what you consume & support & vice versa

lastly, this is one of those situations that’s multilayered which is why i try to listen instead of being defensive. i still enjoyed the movie & Lupita’s performance was beyond Oscar worthy. but i also think it’s ok to try to understand how others feel about the characterization

sure! i’m not sharing to villainize. i’m a huge fan of hers and think she’s supremely talented. but it’s possible to harm without intending to. it’s multilayered and complex. i don’t think there’s one right answer. i think the acting can be phenomenal & people can take issue w it

well i don’t think it’s physically possible for them to be the same. but the same way i’m uncomfortable w white folks telling me how to feel about racism i try to be mindful of how being able bodied impacts how i understand ableism
