Re-reading Johnson interview, he appears to imply he would ignore parliament if it voted against no deal "It would be up to the prime minister of the day. I have myself to decide under the current terms of the extension that we have to apply for such an extension"

I don't think the UK needs a written constitution overall, but perhaps the appointment of the PM is one tiny but vital constitutional process that does deserve codification?

Don't want to ruin the fun - but it's probs too late for us to leave with a deal in October, even if PM Hunt/Johnson decided to support the current Withdrawal Agreement Likely to be just over 20 sitting days from September - October 31. And we still need to pass legislation..

He wasn't convicted of stealing anything, was he? Wasn't he done for mocking up a receipt he'd lost for a claim he was entitled to?

Yep. See also; if a twice divorced woman with a boyfriend half her age & kids by several different men ran for leader we’d literally never hear of anything else

Problem with this plan is that it's insane. If there's a No Confidence vote on September 5, the likely election following it would be on 25 October, a week before EU Exit Day. Coalition talks could be ongoing while the old Govt has control of Deal/No Deal.

How would Trump react to post-Brexit Britain giving the EU unlawful tarrif-free access while denying that same boon to the US?

September election is an option but the risk of an election AFTER a new deal lets Farage spin a betrayal narrative is high. Better to be forced into an election before there's a deal and run against Corbyn, not Farage.

Cobble together enough fudge to be able to repackage May's deal. Rename the backstop .Build excitement around Phase II talks. Lean like hell on Tories for votes.

The AKP has lost the Istanbul election again, after managing to get their initial loss set aside. What now?

54-45 to İmamoğlu. Yıldırım concedes. This was Tayyip Erdoğan's biggest mistake in his political life. Turks may be many things but we always stand with the victim. I am unsure that things will ever be the same again for him.

Maybe. I still assume you don't spend a ton of political capital on overturning an election unless the fix is in.
