SC-01 may be the biggest surprise Democratic House win of last night. Joe Cunningham won an historically Republican coastal district by running on fighting offshore drilling and climate change. There's a big lesson for the party there.

Does anyone doubt that the Medicare for All caucus in the House will increase in the 116th Congress? At the end of the day progressive ideas are the future of the party.

After the House, the biggest news is the night. Millions of people now live in blue trifectas.

FWIW, I also asked for Allred and Ortiz Jones to be included, both upset more centrist candidates in the first round of voting. Beto’s performance strikes me as laudable. But yes, the path forward of least for progressives is aggressive primaries in blue districts.

Ortiz Jones upset Hulings in the first round and Allred upset Meier. DCCC only backed after first round.

Also , FWIW, I did pick Allred and Ortiz Jones in April, so progressives should get some credit there.

Yeah you should read the actual thread where I lay out my thinking . But yes, I do agree it was a bad night nationally for progressive candidates, with Allred, Harder and possibly Ortiz Jones as the main bright spots.

path for progressive wins increasingly seems like intra-Democratic primaries. The most unabashedly progressive new members of the House, AOC, Pressley, Tlaib, Haaland, Chuy Garcia are all replacing outgoing incumbents.

But yes - there is no doubt a 2020 play, particularly if something good happens in FL or AZ . But definitely less than ideal
