To commemorate here is a letter from the Port Local Authority collection. This is the number of displaced people (or aliens as they were called) brought to the Clyde on one ship on one day: 22 nationalities, 284 refugees in total.

For the first time we have a cabinet member responsible for public realm improvements, its a key part of the city's strategic plan. There's substantial work underway or planned. But much to do!

Another cracking day with Friends of Househill Park and another skip full of litter removed from the park. There must have been over 70 people out! Huge thank you to for hosting and supplying all the volunteers with a much needed BBQ at the end. 🌳💚

Unexpectedly ended up in Madrid (a long story). Turned on the TV and the GSA fire is on the news. A reminder of how well known and widely admired the building is.

It’s a devastating sight but the Mac is still standing. building control experts will work with partners to do everything possible to make sure that remains the case. Starting early next week, I’ll convene a Sauchiehall St taskforce to plan the area’s future.

Truly heartbreaking news overnight. We stand united with all those affected by the devastating fire and our thoughts are with everyone who has worked so hard on the restoration and refurbishment. We will offer any and all assistance we can in the days and weeks ahead.

A great read last month, now a sad study of further loss. "Returning to curious shades of minty green & rusty red, following months of specialist paint analysis. It won’t be the whitewashed place people remember, but it is what Mackintosh intended."

Hard to take and hard to look at these pictures following last nights fire. The restoration was advancing so well, creating so much excitement and enthusiasm.
