My 93yr old grandfather buried his wife, my grandmother ,today after 72yrs of marriage. While their relationship was far from perfect, he wept intensely upon seeing her shrouded for burial. Please keep her, Yusra, & him, Muhammed, in your prayers.

Last Xmas I visited the Church of Nativity before spending time at the Aida Refugee camp in Bethlehem where I saw the spirit of Jesus’ miracle/message in resilience of a young refugee beating & shaping outer shells of teargas canisters & rubber bullets into beautiful jewelry.

Spending part of XMas eve at a Green ReEntry home w/brothers reflecting on lessons of isolation, struggle & vindication in story of Jesus birth in surah Mariam (Ch19) if your not familiar with it, just think of it as the prelude or backstory to the baby-Jesus-in-the manger scene.
