.: planning system overwhelmingly gives a pice to ppl who already have a stake & a voice. Labour vision of planning has to be formulated on assumption we give voice to those whose needs stand to be benefited as well

In answer to 1st round of Qs, says consultation processes often don't recognise best ways of getting people's feedback (eg language in which you ask, times of day you ask ppl)

.: we can build good quality housing with good design which lasts the test of time without compromising on cost. Need to look at savings we make on healthcare & education bc ppl's lives are better when they live in stable homes

Robin Wales: half of prosecutions of criminal landlords in the country were in Newham because we enforced a standards scheme. Some of those were homes which used to be ours, they used to be social!

Good to hear cutting through the platitudes to explain how design works in fringe on nimbyism. Values matter in the design process.
