"Let's set the record straight. Ben Shapiro is not Alt Right. His bigotry against blacks and Hispanics is of the mainstream conservative variety."

"Rejoice," he says, as if, even with all the Trump spin, we don't have a situation where (a) Russia manipulated our election, as Mueller found, like DHS/DNI/etc before him; (b) Trump rewarded them for it; (c) Republicans are blocking efforts to prevent it.

The first usage of "America" was Waldseemüller's 1507 map.

I just hate those questions. I have "sympathy" for Palestinians and Israelis, and compelling me to rank them is not going to shed any light whatsoever on what policy views I might have, nor will forcing me to make the choice tease out some hidden bigotry.

Among the Democrats I know -- and I mean Democrat, not a vague term for "the left" -- by far the most common view on Omar is "she is very good at stepping on rakes." Few think she's anti-Semitic, and few think she is helpfully advancing anyone's cause. Take that as you will.

Ah. Interesting 46% with a don't know / no answer. Also a 22% drop in 'more sympathy for Israelis' from Gallup a month ago seems... unlikely. Might be statistical noise between the two. FWIW, I haven't personally seen any change in views one way or another, but it's possible.

Why offer Peterson a fellowship at all? He is a middling scholar of minimal academic impact; he made his name acting like a jerk about pronouns and with dumbed-down YouTube lectures. And if he wore a shirt that said "I proudly hate atheists," you'd be pissed.

Not sure which poll you mean, but this from February shows little movement. Since around 2014 there's been mild partisan shifts (GOP more pro-Israel, Dem more pro-Palestinian, but still under 10% swing), and TBH I don't like "more sympathies" questions.

Kind of rich that the argument made by Kisor is that Auer deference fails to give the public the opportunity to comment on regulatory interpretations. The Supreme Court doesn't publish drafts for public comment, and often they don't have key positions represented at all.

They'd say it was prejudicial, and perhaps go for a selective prosecution argument, then the judge would say 'tweets alone aren't enough to prove it.' What more would prove it? Who knows, it's doubtful the court would let them seek more information. 🤷‍♂️

Alas, as time passed, the freight railroads began to ignore the law, yet face no consequences for putting freight before passengers. Only the Department of Justice can enforce this law, and the last time that happened was ’79, when My Sharona was playing on our Walkman.

A hero is "admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities." If Tom Brady's ball-throwing qualifies as an "outstanding achievement," then so does Chris Evans's $3.16 billion at the box office, which is 5x the Patriots' revenue.

Nice to see Falwell living by his words to support "traditional values," i.e., the traditional grift of having intermediaries sell things to the government at a markup.

I think the story the judge cites in striking down Medicaid work requirements is pretty compelling:
