I literally just moved out of the complex on 63rd and WEA. I’m in Hudson Yards and my new building is running on its emergency generator. is bigger than is admitting.

Looking out our 32nd floor window at Lincoln Center as the sun goes down, I can’t see a single building with lights on all the way to the Hudson River. I guess there’s a lot more than 40,000 people without power. The streets have gone eerily quiet.

Looking out our windows on the 32nd floor at Lincoln Plaza as the sun goes down, there is not a light as far as the eye can see from Broadway to the Hudson River. I guess that’s a helluva lot more than 38,000 people without power.

“Every settlement point of that kind is Israeli from my perspective. Five, I am acting to secure international consent to those principles. Look what we got done on the Golan Heights...and Jerusalem.” Clear as day. Welcome to Bibi’s one state solution.

“Three, in any peace plan not a single settlement and not a single settler will be uprooted. Four, the IDF and the security forces will continue to control the entire territory up to the Jordan. Nor do I distinguish between the settlement blocs and the isolated settlements.3/4

“We’re done with that folly… there are several principles that guide me on the issue of Judea and Samaria. One, this is our country and homeland. Two, we will continue to develop it and to build it.2/4

Netanyahu’s principles for the West Bank (in a speech to the Samaria setler’s Council yesterday): “Here’s a commitment for you. Write it down. It isn’t limited in time...—settlements in Israel won’t be uprooted. Neither Jewish nor Arab settlements. We don’t uproot people. 1/4

The idea was first floated by Senator William Fulbright and George Ball (no friends of Israel) as a way of pressing Israel to withdraw to the June 4 ‘67 lines. Bibi should be careful what he wishes for in his relentless pursuit of political survival.

It would enhance Israel’s deterrent against Iran but it would restrict Israel’s freedom of action and undermine its claim to be defending itself by itself. Above all, it would require an answer to the question: what Israeli borders is the US committing to defend? 2/3

News out of Israel this morning (Ben Caspit) that Bibi is considering a US-Israel defense pact as his next pre-election stunt. There’s a lot of advantages to Israel in extending a US nuclear and conventional umbrella over the Jewish state. 1/2

It was Sir Kim’s only choice after Trump had publicly denigrated him. But it’s sad to see an outstanding diplomat and talented defender of the UK-US relationship fall victim to Trump’s boorish behavior.

Release the peace plan before Israeli elections? That would only be likely if the plan gave no additional West Bank and Jerusalem territory to the Palestinians, or if Bibi has decided to run on a peace platform. I wager they wait.

Greenblatt accused Iran (correctly in my experience) as a “significant spoiler” to his efforts. And he expressed pessimism about his peace plan’s prospects: "the reality is, this is a very, very, very difficult file... If we fail, I pray for the safety and security of Israel…”.

tells Christians United For Israel that Trump Admin is not seeking regime change with the Palestinians: “Our plan right now is with President Abbas.” Another olive branch?
