If the minimum wage had been pegged to house prices in Ireland since 2010, we would now have a minimum wage that is greater than the Living Wage of €11.90 per hour as opposed to €9.80.
Those types of increases are reserved for landlords and developers though.

In 5 years, #homelessness has increased by 7,407 people.
From 3,258 to 10,305.
That’s 1,409 people per year.
But @FineGael’s plan is working.

This year @MandateTU is seeking a pay increase for all Tesco workers. We are demanding pay equality, something the Labour Court emphasised in their recommendation. We want one pay scale for all Tesco workers that starts with the Living Wage & gradually increasing to €16 per hour

The main solution is to make it easier for workers to collectively bargain and allow them the right to representation. Organised workers earn 30% so logic tells us that facilitating union membership will tackle poverty and the “working poor” issue
